Roland R8 and headphones through Spark

I have my R8 mono line to Spark, Beyer headphones attached to Spark. WhenI trigger a pad, I hear an echo. I have tried adjusting the decay and other parameters in the Roland R8. The tones are "dry" and I did not expect any echo. Does anyone have suggestions on what could be causing the echo. The echo is not persistent...maybe a half-second as the sound dissipates to quiet.
