Spark as audio interface for Android?
-
On the FAQ is stated:
'Please note that Spark does NOT work as an audio interface for iOS and Android devices.'However, in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3wGvuMxECg
the Spark is used as an audio interface on an iPhone, which is a iOS device.
Isn't that a contradiction?Anyway, this means that, using Garageband, you could use your iPhone as a looper / loopstation / ... for the Spark.
Since I don't have an iPhone, would this also be possible with an Android phone?

@roel My suggestion is to give it a try. Do you have an Android app which allows audio input through the USB port? There are such iOS apps which allow audio input through the Camera Adapter. I think the reason that PG says that the Spark does not work as an audio interface for iOS and Android devices is simply so they don't have to answer technical questions like the one you're asking. Often companies will say something isn't possible or isn't supported when in fact it is possible just to save their tech support people additional headaches trying to help people through problematic connections and apps.

@dhbailey said in Spark as audio interface for Android?:
Often companies will say something isn't possible or isn't supported when in fact it is
Or because they haven’t tested it thoroughly and so can’t be certain it will work reliably and consistently for all users.
That’s what I mean when I say “not supported” to my customers - it might work, but don’t blame me if it doesn’t! Particularly true with support for mobile devices, given the number of permutations of hardware and software.

It worked for me using usb out of spark into a Behringer cheap interface on both ios and android. Had to use the ipad camera adapter with the usb and power for it to work on my ipad with the lightning port. Just tried strit from spark usb to ios 14.1 ipad without berhinger and garage band worked great

@dhbailey yes, there is such an app for Android : n-track, it's like a lightweight DAW, similar to garageband.
It makes sense that PG doesn't want to support indeed, since it is quite technical. However if it works, it offers a lot of possibilities, e.g. a looper, third-party apps for chord recognition (like smart jam), recording / songwriting on the go...
I guess I'll just have to try it out indeed. The thing is that I would need to buy a special usb cable which will be useless if it doesn't work.

@roel It also works with an android daw Audio Evolution with a micro usb adapter

@nwfungi Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear!
I will try it.
