Quality control and cutting corners
-
My friend in Florida ( I am from Melbourne) wrote to me 2 days ago telling me that his spark had arrived and noticed too many little F$#$ ups that normally would not pass a quality control inspection. I am not worry about looks but I worry about this company having to use components that under normal circumstances would be rejected. After such a long wait it would be terrible to finally get it and see smoke coming from it after a few minutes of play.

Details?
Are the "too many little F$#$ ups" physical defects? The app? Something missing from the box?
I can tell you mine came in 100% perfect condition.

@riczalewski I'd kinda like to see photo's - even if its put in another forum - like the My Les Paul forum or something, they have an amps sectins and posting pics is easy as.
I live in Adelaide and think we've just all got caught up in the corona virus wave of worry around the world...
I'm not suprised its turning out this way and I hope it doesnt effect their sales as they started off strong.
But yes, any company - Gibson, Epiphone, Yamaha - all have what people term quality control issues, but until one see them we really dont know if its 'acceptable' or not... or shold it legitamately be returned or a further discount offered if proved the quality was a fault at the manufacturers end...
I would say that we are knid of pressuring them to get us our amps - and thats not good, Id rather wait and get what I've seen onthe youtube reviews, than some inferior product because they felt under pressure from their consumers.

@johndagostino agreed mine also came in 100% good condition, and I examined it thoroughly.

did you really open it up and check all the solder joints, ribbon cables and whatnot.. etc etc?
that's what QA is, not just if the outside is clean and polished... lol.
and it could take a few months for a problem to manifest.
Straight out the box DOAs should be well below 2%... -
@crystalpit As an electrical engineer who is very interested in quality control I open most electronics devices I acquire so yes, I did open and check the build.
You seem real bitter...lol

not at all bitter... just worried.
I've done QA for a major intl company on refrig/elect units been mnfd in China....
there's a reason why companies move manufacturing to China, and accept even up to 5% failure rates.
by the way, I reckon 98% of average people wouldn't open it.
but it's good to know for sure
I'm patiently waiting, and would prefer waiting a bit longer for peace of mind... -
@crystalpit The OP's comment was "noticed too many little F$#$ ups". I could be wrong, but my assumption is that he was referring to exterior issues and/or performance issues. I would rather doubt the unit was popped open.

@riczalewski The only thing I noticed on mine was the PositiveGrid badge was not level with the "weave" of the speaker material. I tried to ignore it...I really did. It annoyed me a bit that something so obvious got through QC. But in the end I had to lever it off and straighten it up. Should anyone else consider this bear in mind that it is pinned through as well as glued. it's also a very soft metal and easy to bend/damage. Other than that it seems fine so far. Will report back if I find anything else.

@johndagostino
That is what I thought too - just external issues.. but really didn't expand on that, so I'm wondering if just spreading some negativity to ride the wave of "wheres my amp" fiasco...I really dont mind waiting for something I ordered before it was made.... and I definitely dont want them to rush my order because they feel pressured. I hope they know we really dont want fast amps - but just the quality to continue.
