How to use midi controller for Bias FX in Sonar?
-
I tried to use midi controller for switching effects in Bias FX in stadalone version and its working. But how could I do the same when I use it in DAW Sonar (Cakewalk by Bandlab)? I use audio track with fx bias... I think that it propably could be controled by another midi track, but I donť know how...Is here anyone to have some tip? Thanks...

@honza-šedivý I do this in reaper very easily. I have two tracks, one for BFX with the Line in as the input source and the second track has the midi controller as input. The midi track has a send that sends midi data to the BFX track. I then record arm both and turn on monitoring and it should work.

@paul-jones32 I can't do it because there is no possibility to insert send from midi track in Sonar, or I dont know how...In audio track there is possibility, i can click "insert send", but it is not at midi track...

I cant believe nobody has explained it on my facebook page yet...There's NO WAY that Sonar cant do this, it was always really advanced on MIDI and even REAPER can do this, and reaper's midi is barely limping compared to a real sequencer from what I hear everyday

@pipelineaudio So now I tried and now its working! Only I had to make unable midi controll under vst window, I didn't see before. Now its possible to set Bias FX as output from midi track. It's working, but only some switches working and some not...In standalone works all...I dont know why...It seems I have program all switches the same, only to send one number as midi change.

Can you stick one of those Piz MIDI tools in the signal path for the MIDI and monitor what exact messages are being sent? Or maybe Cakewalk has a native one
-
@pipelineaudio I have only simply programmed one Control for every switch which is the number, for example 1 switch is sending number 1 , 2 number two and so one...In standalone it works all, but in Cakewalk 3, 4, 6 , 10 are not working...There are more options and I did not try all possibilities of settings of the outputs from miditrack

Honestly, that way looks like some sort of Medieval torture device. I swear there is a much easier way in cakewalk, there HAS to be

Sorry, I haven't read the thread, and this is from memory, as I no Longer use SONAR or BIAS for that matter.
1 audio track with BFX inserted, in BFX plugin window select the vst2 drop down (top left of center), select 'Enable Midi Input'
1 midi track with your Midi controller set to input, and the output set to BFX (of course if you have multiple tracks with multiple BFX instances you'll have to select the correct instance)
Both tracks input echo enabled.
. . . and away you go.
Like I said, from memory, but it's close if not how it's done, worked fine for me. I haven't used SONAR for a number of years, moved to Studio One, no longer use BIAS products, have moved to other products which load almost instantly, have zero sluggishness, have all the features one requires right off the bat, readouts easily visible whenever you want, WAH parking, full midi, practically instant preset saving and changing, excellent and fast preset management as apposed to PG's woefully inadequate system, ability to save presets for everything, amps, FX, racks, pedals, everything. Everything that BIAS products should have had (and more) but inexplicably BIAS products don't have. No more watching the spinning circle when saving, or searching/changing amps,FX etc, instant loading, everything practically instantaneous, super fast and CPU efficient, such a joy to use compared to BIAS products, and best and perhaps most importantly of all, sound, actually sounding like an amp, amp like, don't get me wrong, BIAS products sounded good, but they never really sounded 'amp like' if you know what I mean, and with OVERLOUDS THU coming out soon with amp match like features etc, there may be another contender, time will tell, but I'll likely never return to PG products, just to many issues and omissions when compared to what else is available, I still keep up on what is happening, but unlikely I'd ever return, there would have to be a HUGE change, good to see they added the ability to switch off that hideous public announcement system, but far to to little far to late, . . . . anyway . . . . .

@dawseeker What product do you use? In Sonar, there is now TH-3...when I tried it I started with PG, because generally seemed to me PG have the better sound on my first impression...Before i never used similary product, I've always played or recorded guitar with real amp and mics...
