Spark 40 shrill attack and white noise
-
Have had this amp for two years and really enjoy it. Like any amp, it has its limitations.
The two issues I have struggled with are shrillness on note attacks and a white noise/hissing from headphone jack into audio interface for recording.
The shrillness or harsh attack sound can be somewhat mitigated by rolling back the volume and tone pots. I've tried different cables with no quantifiable change.
It doesn't matter if I'm running a single coil or humbucker. None of my pickups are high output and pickups are adjusted within spec.
I see the Mini has a High Z setting and wonder if this is intended to address this issue. If so, any guess as to what level of resistance this introduces?
Due to latency issues I have to use the headphone output for recording. I've tried a summing cord and currently using TRS to two 1/4" jacks. Neither configuration eliminates the buzzing, hissing white noise. I use a noise gate in my DAW but this only controls the noise to a degree.
Anyone else experienced any of the above? The power supply is grounded.
