Use Headphone Jack for Line out?
-
Hi,
I'd really love to be able to just bring the spark along, set it up behind me to hear myself, and then plug it directly into the board (without disabling the speaker).
I've seen the mod where someone found the test points to hook up an output to go to a direct box (TP56 & TP57). But my board is one of the 1st ones out, and doesn't look anything like the board in the pictures from the mod.
So I was thinking, couldn't I just tap one of the headphone jack's channels, and use that to output to the direct box (I was thinking of putting the transformer inside the case, and just have a TRS output.
Has anybody done this?
Thanks.
Michael

The speakers in my spark no longer work and my only saving grace has been to use the 3.5mm headphone jack to connect to my line 6 spider jam amp that is like 15 years old and still works like a charm.

@michael-coar The trick is that phrase "without disabling the speaker." I looked at both the original Spark and the Spark Mini and determined that it's just not worth the soldering. Also I found that the Spark wasn't loud enough for me. So what I do is use a 3.5 splitter cable into the headphone jack. One end goes into my Vox AC 30 and the other goes into the DI box for the sound techs. That way I get all the bells and whistles of the Spark (and the Spark Control) and still get to hear myself independent of the sound crew as I can never get enough 'me' from them. Some of the sound techs prefer to mike the Vox. It's a ten dollar solution that doesn't void any warranties.
