Spark Inoperative After Firmware Update
-
This happened to me. After restarting and retrying several times I went to the help centre and used the email request form. I soon received a response asking for further details and then received another email supplying a fix. All up and running now.
I suggest you do the same if you have this issue.

Hey! Glad things worked out for you! I too connected with customer support and they suggested
- Try a different USB port
- Try a different computer
Neither worked - did they suggest anything different for you?

@mcc2673
Hi I am suffering same issue as you !
Did Positive Grid find a solution? -
@jay-patel Just keep retrying, pretty sure it will eventually work for you. Same thing happened to me. Never changed port or PC, just kept retrying with various combos of button-pushing and bluetooth-resetting! Good luck

@eahenn having the same issue. Did you get it resolved? what worked?
-
I have the same issue with my new Spark, no sound after firmware 1.5.4.102 update. Read all the threads followed exact process, different computers, USB ports bla bla. I'm still waiting for my lucky attempt for the firmware to update successfully, I'm up to about 50 attempts now.
I manage a software team and follow best practice SDLC and we use ITIL practices for Problem Management processes and it is absolutely extraordinary that so many PG customers have the same issue and there is still not an identified root cause for the issue and an updated firmware tool to resolve it. Customers on here are talking about having having this issue 3 months ago with earlier firmware upgrades. Is PG seriously releasing new firmware without addressing the update tool issues? Wow!
The advice to keep trying and it will work eventually is gob-smackingly poor to the extreme!
Oh well, gotta go maybe I will get lucky today and this software will work, maybe I will try facing west today. ;-)
PS: While I'm here, I also run the BiasFX plugin for protools. Why oh Why on gods green earth, would anybody using protools want to see a "slow loading Jimi Hendrix update advertisement" in protools every time they go into the plugin to tweak a guitar sound.

@roy-preece have you tried the download from this thread: Firmware fix
Make sure you run the BAT file not the exe directly.
-
@ramonster Thanks RAMonster just tried tried and answered on your other thread you directed me to. Just looking to downgrade now so I can use the bloody thing. Insane that customers are doing software fixes for PG .......

My Spark has become a white noise machine after "updating". Have performed the factory reset and tried updating many times without any change. Have opened up ticket #335041 with support and they sent me a new update file with a log, which I ran and did not help. Sent log to support 3 days ago. Any suggestions from this group? Thanks!

Anyone still having issues try this update file posted by another user on a similar post. It worked for a few users so far including myself. Please note I did have to use the .bat file and NOT the .exe file.
He said the link was supplied by the help centre. -
@richiedx7 running that I get
...
Updating: 8%
Updating: 8%
Firmware upgrade failed! Error code is 16Any advice?
-
I solved my problem. YMMV. Steps I took
- Use different USB cable
- Update to 1.4.3 with .exe installer
- Update to 1.5.4 with .exe installer

@richiedx7 This worked for me! I was in the middle of a response from support and tried this...it allowed me to get the amp updater working again with the earlier version and then the latest update went without a hitch.
Fantastic!
I love it when people relate their issues and solutions as it is SO helpful to others!
I freakin' love this little amp when it's working! -
I have had the same problem with the Mini, updated firmware, computer keeps saying all is up to date but the Mini remains unusable. All 4 red pre-set lights flash continually and no fix from the so called Help Desk. What to do from here????????

I had the same issue with v1.7.5.182 updating from my Mac. I tried another computer running Win10 but that did the same update failure. I then used the earlier update cited earlier in the chat and that worked. I ran the latest v1.7.5.182 updater and now everything is fine.
