An Open Letter: Why I don’t use BIAS FX2 Pro
-
Dear BIAS FX2 design team,
I love the sounds of BIAS FX2 plugin. That’s why I bought it.
But I don’t use the plugin because I really HATE the following:- Load time. BIAS FX2 Pro is the slowest loading plugin I own. Make it load faster. When I have an idea I want to capture, I want my DAW and plugins to load as fast as possible.
- Sign-in. Since I don’t use the plugin very often, it seems like I have to sign-in every time I use it. For security reasons, I have a long, complicated password. Finding and entering the password kills the creative juices.
- Too many Alerts. When I’m looking for a tone, I sometimes try a preset, tweak it, then move on to the next preset. Because I changed the preset, I get the “Alter: Modifications will be lost without saving, save current preset?” (which isn’t proper English). How about you forgo the Alter dialog, automatically save my changes, and provide a “reset to defaults” button so that I can bring back to original settings, if I want?
- Again, when looking for a tone, I want to quickly change between amps and cabinets. After I select an amp or cabinet, maybe offer “prev” and “next” buttons on either side so I can quickly switch to the next one. Or maybe offer a row of thumbnails below. Replacing amps, cabinets, and pedals should be as fast and easy as changing a setting (e.g., increase gain).
I invite the design team to walk through BIAS FX2 and look for all of the big and little ways it interrupts and/or slows down the creative workflow.
