I agree with you, on the price, on the value, on the upgrade hiccups etc. Ive been here for a few days complaining mostly because of the lack of straight communication from PG and the feelings of being close to be ripped off. But, at the end, I think is working kind of ok,, a $49 upgrade price for Elite is fine, and I think if some purchases are not being transferred is probably a glitch that PG will fix soon, because they clearly said that purchases will be carried over.
My Elite purchases did not carry over, but I was offered a $49 upgrade price which I think is fair.
Why would I complain for my Elite purchases not being carrier over?? really? would I expect to have all the gear from FX1 transferred to FX2 for free , then what reason would I have to buy Elite upgrade? for just a couple more goodies? I dont think it make sense, not from the business perspective. In the case of the Elite or Standard or Pro subscribers, the whole point of the transfer is so the new app "knows" that it should give you a better pricing for repurchases.
So, that other poster talking about lawsuits etc is plain naive and will not scare even a teenager. I dont know who will join that lawsuit. Agree with you here and all the other posters, if you dont like FX2, dont buy it or ask Apple to give you the money back if you dont see it as a good fit.
Do you want to scare a company? show them an Invoice for a big purchases made to a competitor, for a few hundreds or thousands, and prove that you mean $$$ for them or for other providers, that will make them move. I have one for $1800 made to Kemper a few days ago, and I dont think they would care much about it, thats peanuts for a company.
A class action lawsuit for a boutique software that cost $50 ?? Even I would laugh. -
I also owned Ultimate license with everything in BFX 1 unlocked. I was shock at first when almost nothing was transferred to BFX 2. I asked them if it was of any technical issue, and they directed me to this list, which looked like everything that could be transferred: https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043293071-Expansion-Pack-List

Well in my case I found that the latest version of FX1 was unusable due to it crashing with the buzz problem. So no, sticking with FX1 was not an option for me.
Interestingly that bug seems to be fixed in FX2 and it seems more stable. There are of course the new features in FX2 which the developers need to be paid for but I don't think it's fair to expect those who have recently bought FX1 to pay again for FX2 without some kind of reduction in price.
Steinberg did a similar thing when they brought out Cubasis 3. Bugs not fixed in Cubasis 2 got fixed for Cubasis 3. Again, it was the bug fixes which forced me to pay again.
I suppose when you think that FX2 will only cost about the same as an average FX pedal, it's not really a big sum to pay every year or so. Wouid it be better if PG when down the subscription route? I'm not so sure.

A couple of people here have mentioned Nembrini, so before I gave in and paid again for FX2 I did download their Tube amp. Very impressive actually. I note they are offering a few rack effects for free too.
It's good to have alternatives.

@brian-dress
It is very disappointing that most of the amps and effects from BIAS FX 1 does not appear to be ‘compatible’ with BFX2.I’d be prepared to pay up to 50% upgrade price but current upgrade pricing demonstrates poor loyalty to its existing customer base. I have an Elite licensing as well as all other add-ons.
I expect the Celestion IRs to be coming will probably not be ‘compatible’ given their current strategy.
I have been a PG customer since the beginning - but not going forward. The price isn’t the issue, it’s how they have managed and credited existing purchases and providing better upgrade tiering.

@l-gee from PG support:
BIAS FX 2 is a brand new product of its own, with renewed algorithms and expanded functionalities, thus a separate purchase is required.
While the expansion packs from BIAS FX 1 Mobile can be carried over to BIAS FX 2 Mobile, the license from BIAS FX 1 cannot be carried over, meaning that a separate purchase has to be made in order to unlock the full functionalities of BIAS FX 2 Mobile.
Please consider taking advantage of the upgrade pricing offered to BIAS FX Mobile/BIAS FX 2 Desktop.

Sorry, but you do not take any attention to what was said in the topic. It is understandable that it should be an upgrade price and we appreciate your hard work on the new product, however, the "upgrade" price that I can see in my own iPad with FX1 Ultimate with the all extensions is THE SAME as on empty device from other person $69 (early adopter - from your FAQ?!) . Also "volume" of transfer is just ridiculous, lets say honestly it is totally new product with really no upgrade and no special price for your customers (even staying with you from JamUp).
PS If you could say so in advance it would be no any complain at all. Regards. -
@_aldor there has "never" been any license transfers on any positive grid products (*exception below) so actually the posting title is a bit misleading (though the disappointment for many is real) - nor was any license transfer promised for this "new app"
If it is not promised why assume it will transfer?
*The only "transfer/update/upgrade" that was instant was Mobile Bias Amp 2 which totally replaced Mobile Bias Amp 1 - we had no idea it would replace BA1 since the Desktop release of Bias Amp 2 was a new app and not an upgrade/replacement to Desktop BA1 (which you got to keep both, but had to pay for the new app on Desktop only)
-
@_aldor If you are seeing $69 pricing on your iPad for Elite license, then you obviously don’t have a Previous Full License on BFX1. As myself and many others see $49 for Elite License for BFX2, as previous owners of BFX1. PG is offering 50% off the retail $99 price. I don’t see how that’s unfair.
-
@vannamalay the current upgrade price for existing BFX1 customers IS 50% off. It’s $49 for an Elite License if you have a previous full license on BFX1. That’s half the retail pricing for Elite.
-
@rmalambri Totally agree,, mine showed also a $49 upgrade and I took it. _aldor is probably having some issue, maybe he is not properly registered on FX 1 on that device. PG posted instructions for how to get the special pricing.
If he owns Ultimate and does not see the $49 upgrade, then he should contact PG support directly. I suggest he arms himself with patience, because Support takes sometimes DAYS to answer an email.
He can still play with FX1,, it is not like we are working with a life saving software at a Hospital, so a day or so or wait is not much. -
@elgrantimo64 not to mention it is nowhere ready for live use so consider it a public beta they did not even have to release yet, this way it has more users troubleshooting it for them to improve it quickly

I upgraded from FX1 Ultimate to FX2 Elite.
The $50 doesn't bother me at all, but...
Question 1:
Am I able to retrieve my FX1 tones from Dropbox into FX2, or do I need to recreate everything? It doesn't seem to be possible to download them.Question 2:
Why is my Octaver pedal locked? Is it discontinued?Ughhhh...
-
Bias fx2 updated. lost packets found. and the price has also gone down. Elite 54,99 €
-
@sergio-sala update for BFX1 also to help transfer expansions
-
@stevenkay I was wondering why Octaver pedal is locked, also. Everything else is unlocked except for that single pedal. The marketing hype seems to indicate that a purchase of “Elite” package unlocks everything.
-
Thanks PG for the update, 60s pack successfully transferred to fx2. Transfer of metal sig pack still broken though :(
-
@bigdaddy mine is unlocked-
-
@sergio-sala: Okay, thanks. Got the pedal unlocked. But still don’t see a way to retrieve presets from FX1. Is it possible?
