BIAS FX 2 "This preset requires BIAS AMP 2"

@davidebaloo77 Well if that is the case, they are is selling the product now... if FX2 also now needs BIAS Amp 2 to use the tonecloud presets they market as being a benefit of FX2, then what is the point? I had presets that I made myself that would not open . The tonecloude functionality is dead it seems. I'm done with PG, I came to BIAS from an amplitube 4 licence... looks like I'm back to amplitube... maybe Joe Satriani and Brian May also made the right choice!!!
Hi,
Is there something similar to the "tonecloud" at amplitude?.. something that works of course? -
I can't see how they can dispute this considering in the BiasFX 2 FAQ it states the below
Q: Can I download presets which contain custom amps from ToneCloud if I don't have BIAS Amp?
A: You can still download and use a patch that has custom amps made with BIAS Amp in it, but you can't edit the amp in BIAS Amp, or use it on other patch that you made yourself in BIAS FX, if you don't have a BIAS Amp license.https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002350863-FAQ-BIAS-FX-Desktop
Also under the BIAS FX description
ToneCloud
50,000+ Online Presets Open a Universe of Sounds to YouForget endless hunting—and paying for—additional presets to expand your collection of guitar tones. You gain direct access to over 50,000 presets for custom amps, pedals and pedalboards shared by the ever-expanding ToneCloud® online community. There’s no need to open other software.
The screenshot for ToneCloud is 3 tones, all of which have custom amps. Very misleading, feels like a bait and switch.
(I own BiasAMP by the way but I can see why people are annoyed)

Hi all,
We'll release a new update this week to address the ToneCloud presets issue,
Thank you and stay safe
-
There isn't even a way to filter the tonecloud to see presets that dont use bias amp 2? Is there???
Surely not every single preset in the list uses bias amp 2? There are a hundred amps in bias fx 2 elite that I have... but none of the tonecloud presets work at all. Very frustrating I didn't see this before updating. I was looking forward to seeing what the update had and instead it ruined the whole program. I hope you roll this back as soon as possible.
Oh and Ive just noticed that it has also broken all the artist presets that are advertised directly in the app. All the tosin stuff no longer works. This is crazy.
Edit - I found the button that supposedly shows you just presets that are available to download with your license tier. However this shows me ALL the presets and none of them are available.

PROBLEM SOLVED
So completely ticked off after this update. Like others, I upgraded to 2.1.9 and found out a bunch of my downloads from ToneCloud no longer worked because I needed to buy Amp 2 Professional to play them.
Thankfully someone has posted the downgrade to 2.1.8 and since reverting, no issues. Problem solved temporarily.
I wouldn't think they would want to make a cash grab play like that with a big chunk of their user base. -
@wgn5150 Did you even bother to read 2 posts above yours?
Mike just said they would release an update this week to address the issue, and posted the same thing on multiple theads. -
It's a damn shame about this bug but I'm glad its getting updated next week. Rolling back to 2.18 for now until new patch is out. The Backing track feature is awesome and is very helpful in syncing another layer on tracks too
-
@dandaman678 Yes, the new looper features look great.
Wish my tones worked so I could use the feature. -
Here is a new beta - v2.1.10, please feel free to give it a try:
Release note:
- Fixed the "duplicated presets issue"
- Fixed the "ToneCloud preset issue"
-
@mike Thx mike. On first glance seems to be working as before, but with the updated features. (looper etc)
Thx -
I've just come across this issue too (Bias FX 2 Pro) and I submitted a support ticket. I updated and now none of my existing presets that I downloaded work, and I'm unable to download and use any preset in the tonecloud. I know for a fact these presets don't use any Bias AMP features. What's going on there? Access to 'thousands of presets' on tonecloud is one of the advertised features of Bias FX.
Was this intentional or is it a bug? As a software developer myself I can empathise if it's just a bug - mistakes can happen but I really hope this wasn't a conscious decision by Positive Grid because that would be a total scam. Thankfully I was able to reinstall the older version but for sure I will not be updating or taking the risk of buying any more positive grid products until this gets fixed... And I will probably seek a refund too.
I advise everyone else reading this thread should open a support ticket too because if it's a bug - having tonnes of support tickets will prioritise that getting fixed... and if it's not a bug then hopefully it we can convince them to reverse this decision...

@mike Thank you - I just bought the "Pro" version this morning on a bit of an expensive whim so I was somewhat concerned that I'd bought the wrong thing. Relieved to find this for a quick and effective response!

aside from the things I wish they would fix and change the truth is and history shows it that they do attempt fixes for anything they break rather quickly - the platform has a lot of support for good reason and deserves some respect or people would never get past the demo (this has always been so) I use this stuff just like hardware to reduce my usage of physical objects and this means I use other amp sims too just like the old days when I had a few setups and I was a total consumer tool
I like that prices came down a bit in reality and could come down a little more and I would also like them to see reason and open up the after market for buyers to help eliminate any possible buyers remorse ever again and also to increase the overall value on the platform worldwide for all musicians making it an even stronger investment
With some more hard work by these people on some great beginnings they can continue toward a healthy environment and community
Good luck with your new virtual gear !

@mike Thank you Mike, however it's odd others were told by PG staff that it was the new way licensing works. You say it's a bug, or is it that they decided to back out of forcing people to also buy BIAS AMP 2 to use presets that were once opened up in that program?
-
Well good to know that it´s a bug. Owning a Elite license I was getting pretty ticked off (to say the least) to find out that now, all of a sudden I couldn't use most of my presets and I would need to buy another piece of software from the same company to make my "Elite" version be elite...

Not clear on exactly what happened here. They are claiming a 'Bug'. However this does not explain the message folks are claiming PG sent out. This message needs to be explained. Who sent this out, and exactly what is it referring to ???
"Since the 2.1.9 release, we've changed the policy on BIAS FX 2's ToneCloud licensing.
The accessibility of the presets has been adjusted. From now on, the presets that contain BIAS Amp 2 content will be unavailable to those who do not own the respecting license. This is merely to reinforce the same principle across all additional contents (BIAS Amp 2, BIAS Pedal, Celestion, expansion packs) for BIAS FX 2." -

It's pretty obvious. If they came and were honest with us it would go a long way. Instead they just seem to be covering their asses and ignoring direct questions. Untrustworthy.

Hi all,
Long story short, we were just trying to fix the bug "Can't read Amp2 license in the presets"" , it's an issue about the BIAS Amp 2 amp menu in BIAS FX 2.
You can see the release note below:
https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024798051-BIAS-FX-2-Desktop-Update-History-Release-NotesWe did not know beforehand that the fix totally blocked the access to the presets that have Amp 2 amps (if you don't have a BIAS Amp 2 license).
The message you got from our support team was just an internal miscommunication. We did not intend to force anyone to purchase BIAS Amp 2.
Hope this explains

Just look in the mirror, you'll be right, as long as you can drag yourself away from kissing arse that is.
