BIAS FX 2 - Crackling and Audio Delay
-
Hey everybody.
I've recently purchased both BIAS AMP 2 and BIAS FX 2, and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen 2-In-2 audio interface.
The problem is, there is an insane amount of crackling, to the point where my guitar sounds like it's on a Tremolo setting. There's also a small amount of delay, which is irritating to the point that it messes with my playing.
I'm using the "Windows Audio" setting, because I can't seem to use my laptop speakers as an Output Device when using ASIO.
So, what do I do? Is there a way to get rid of the crackling and delay, or a way to use my laptop speakers as an Output Device when using ASIO?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

If you really, really want to use the laptop speakers,
some
some
and this can be different now that we have WASAPI
Have a feature to "record what you hear" where the input goes straight to the output, or WASAPI devices with loopback. You could send your 2i2 output into the laptop line input, loopback to the laptop speaker out. i had to do that back in like 2008 for a few demos.
However, the promise of WASAPI is that we should be able to amalgamate drivers like Scarlet in with onboard soundcard out under the same software, but we have seen precious little of that actually working. Anything you can to just use the Focusrite as intended, with ASIO drivers and its own outputs driving some speakers would be best right now until microsoft can get their WASAPI crap together

@pipelineaudio If I could plug my headphones into the Scarlett using ASIO, would I be able to hear the sound in the headphones? All I would need is the headphone-to-amplifier jack.
-
@pipelineaudio I should also mention that I'm trying to use this as an amp rather than a recording tool.

Yes, and that's how it's meant to be used. When using an external ASIO device like the 2i2, you use the audio outputs built into that device, in general. From the pictures I just looked up, there is a 1/4" headphone jack on the front of the 2i2 and also two line outs on the back. If your headphones have the smaller 1/8" plug, you need a 1/8" to 1/4" TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) adapter. It'll look something like this: https://www.zoro.com/static/cms/product/large/Z_s1qxpcpIx_.JPG

@noahsullivan13 And also use the ASIO setting, not Windows Audio. You'll probably get sound out of both but latency will be far worse with Windows Audio.

@noahsullivan13 I doubt you will get any good result without focusrite own asio, no wonder you have delays crackling.
I would instead invest in some kind of speaker or headphone for the laptop. You can get speakers as smal as portable speakers used for mobilephone. Their actually not to bad. I used JBL Clip 2 when used this on ipad. Real good sound for something as smal. Not sure if you could connect it with focusrite.
For home use I would used either headphone or some real good speaker like Kali lp 6, Yamaha hs7 or Adam t7v if you preferere to use this as an amp. I heard Adam t7v is really good. Invest on the cab and you get some very good sound, and in your case you can use asio driver rather than windows own crap sound driver and get rid of the delay and crackle.
The same goes for headphone. Can recommend sennheiser hd25.
