My iRid HD is bad companion of the BiasFX
-
Hi, I'm new here. I have the BiasFX on the iPad but I must announce that the iRig HD is not your best mate. With the JamUp works wonderfully, but with the BiasFX makes too much noise, like a broken cable or something like that. I do not recommend it, now I'm looking for a better interface to keep using BiasFX.
-
Hmm... Don't have any experience with that one. Not sure what other folks are using but I have had good luck with the Line 6 Sonic Port. I would like to try a class compliant USB interface with the Camera Connection Kit but haven't gotten around to it yet. I do have the CCK but my interface is connected to my computer.
-
I'm hoping someone sends a Sonicport to test here. I like that it has dedicated stereo 1/4" outs! I made a few mistakes buying stuff for testing.
The iRig 2 and iRig HD2 max output before distortion is at best case (and not usually an actually practical case, realistic case is about 24 dB down for me!) 12dB lower than a regular guitar signal going through the switch in Thru position, hoping the Sonicport is at least unity gain
-
@elric the sonic port has good references in other forums, I think I'll try one of those
-
@hector-zamora I like my Sonicport for it's overall quality. But if it get's stolen or loss I would choose a interface which could be used on iOS and Desktop-devices instead
-
@sascha-ballweg Thanks, then Sonic Port can not connect to PC or Mac? The iRig yes, I think that is its only advantage.
-
@hector-zamora I think the bigger one with the integrated mic might do the connection but I have only the small version
-
I have the basic Sonic Port with no mic. AFAIK it does not support a computer connection. As noted it is a solid interface and is inexpensive.
I guess there are a lot of USB interfaces that actually work but like I said, I have not tried one yet. There are even some designed to work with both specifically, example:
https://itrack.focusrite.com/products/itrack-soloAll depends on what you want to do with in the mobile realm.
-
The Focusrite is also a great option that I am considering. I must definitely ask for advice not to go wrong again !!!
-
The Sonicport specs list no output specs :( http://line6.com/sonicport-audio-interface/specs/
I'd love to see if it has the same problematic 12dB level drop as the iRig HD 2.
Focusrite's iStuff specs +10 dBU which should be more than plenty for an amplifier's FX loop return

or something like that.
I have never had any issues with Biasfx on iPad and my iRig HD
-
LOL, you guys are getting me interested in iPad interface upgrades.
I may just go big!
There's also the iOne with only one input, but the iTwo has MIDI. :)

I have a Sonoma wire works unit coming in today for testing. If it's anything resembling the claims they make for it then it would be many miles ahead of the others in several ways depending on your needs. I'd hold off for a second
-
@pipelineaudio Which model are you checking out?
-
The Mini right now.

edit: After some serious testing and going thru quite a lot of back and forth info with Sonoma Wire Work's tech support, I am WAY more than happy to report that this is one, serious, kickass unit. If you want something with a real 1/4" out (stereo on TRS, not summed to mono TS), more than enough output level to make your amplifier's FX loop or FRFR input happy, something that doesn't need batteries, something that can charge your iDevice while you play with the regular old power supply you already run your iThing with, clean, noise free, distortion free sound, and a long enough interface to iLighting input to not be constantly paranoid, this is the unit I'd reccomend
