What is your volume setting on your guitar? I’ve noticed that the PG Noise Gate and Compressor “Pedals” are very sensitive to the actual guitar signal strength. Try turning off both pedals to see if there’s an improvement. -
@dan-lawrence yeah! I play with everything open on the guitar.
I only have hot humbucker guitars (jackson and a gibson les paul)
I put only amp and is sounds fine.
thanks!!!!!! -

Sounds like you just about have it figured out. If I understand your response correctly, everything clears up with all the pedals turned off. Since you’re using hot pickups with the guitar cranked, you have high signal strength going into the Spark.Start with just the Reverb Pedal on and see if it returns; most of the Presets on ToneCloud have way too much reverb for my taste, and adjusting the level solves a multitude of issues for me. If the problem returns with more than one pedal, stepping through them one at a time, then it could be the Preset Amp Gain or Volume settings are too high for your rig. The added pedal input signal is just high enough to send the amp into cutoff.
If you’re using Positive Grid Presets that came with the Spark Amp and are experiencing the problem, I’d open up a Support Ticket. I have a Les Paul Traditional and an SG Standard, and have no problem with any of the PG Presets.
With the most popular Preset in ToneCloud, “Metallica” by Rocco Di Filippo, l need to back down the guitar volume on both my Gibsons to 3 to get decent sustain. Adjusting the Noise Gate and lowering the Preset Amp Gain & Volume greatly improved everything while maintaining a good (to me) metal sound at a higher guitar volume.
