RIFF iOS. How to split lightning cable to power the iphone while using the RIFF

I've tried multiple "splitters" to use the RIFF while charging the iphone. None seems to work. The RIFF works great when plug directly in the iphone, but nut if i use a splitter cable

While I don’t have a RIFF, I do have an iRig and painfully learned that not all cables are ‘data’ cables. I found that cables are wired for charging only unless specifically identified as a data cable in the title/description.While both charging and data cables have identical connectors, only charging terminals are physically connected on the charging cable.
This is really important information if you try to save a buck by ordering from Amazon or other budget websites. Even if you specify ‘data cable’ in your search, charge only cables are included…

As Dan said some cables will not carry both audio and power, or will only carry audio OUTPUT. I've been through simple adapters that don't charge, and others that REQUIRE a 2.1A minimum power supply to even work with an audio interface. I add labels to every adapter, interface, power supply (because the print is so small) noting power output, or requirement, or limitations (like audio output only!).
Most of the ones I've found that work as an interface and ALSO charge the IOS device have a USB-A port for input/output, and HDMI port nobody ever seems to use, and a USB-C port that is ONLY for charging - and with at least a 2.1A power supply!
The Apple Camera Connection kit that has a lightning port and USB-A port works with VERY few audio interfaces - mostly ones that have an AC adapter for a power supply. I've found cheap ones on Amazon but can't give you a link, as the ones I've bought that work are no longer available (actually they probably are, but with a different brand name.
The last issue - sometimes, when Apple upgrades the IOS operating system, the interfaces no longer work.
I have not purchased a RIFF because 1) I haven't been able to get any confirmation that the Micro-USB port is an audio interface (pictures are too dark, most seem to have 3 cables attached and I've gotten no clear answers from support)) and 2) I'm hesitant to buy a $100 interface and have it be a paperweight when the new IOS operating system is installed tonight!
Can the RIFF be powered by an IOS device (example - my iPad Air 2) using a Micro-USB to USB-C cable (or adapter ) AND work as an audio interface? I use bluetooth earbuds or studio monitors for monitoring.
