Dumble ODS dynamics
-
I'm new to the PG community and have only had my Spark 40 for a couple of weeks. First off, I have to say, I've been thoroughly enjoying this little amp. I haven't used the learning and practice tools much but the tones available with this lil' monster make it worth the price of admission. Great for grab-n-go purposes.
This post is concerning the Dumble ODS model. It definitely is my favorite for clean to edge-of-break-up.
One odd quirk is related to it's dynamics. Maybe it's happening in the DSP for the Sparks power amp section but it always sounds like it has some kind of compression happening (yes, I have the compressor block turned off). That wouldn't be a problem except it's prone to mis-tracking and pumping, especially with aggressive picking. Sometimes, when you hit a chord or even single notes, you can hear the sound drop slightly and then pump up and down for a few hundred MS.
I can hear some compression on all tones, I assume it's in the global DSP, to create more "apparent loudness" and protect the small speakers, but not the pumping I hear when using the Dumble model.
Has anyone else noticed this? Have you found a work-around to avoid it?
Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.
