Spark Speaker Mod
-
I designed and 3D printed some speaker mounts for the Spark that angle the speakers out similar to the Spark Mini. Sound is subjective, but to my ears this was a big improvement.
I also made a plug that reduces the size of the bass port by 50%. This was a little harder to notice, but I think it was a slight improvement.
The only downside is that the stock grill will no longer fit. So, next step is a custom grill.

@donm1000 hmmm, I don't know. I will assume that you did this to make the quality better? Seems like they may have thought about that when they desigened it, but I can understand why you could have done this. If they would just make a head, we wouldn't need to do things like this yah? Could you see the spark head for a cabinet? - I can.

@mike-peterson
Based on other threads at the time, some members considered the Spark 40 too bass heavy, the Preset ‘EQ Pedal’ did not exist yet, and they were looking for hardware solution. This speaker mod was one member’s solution. Apparently, the higher quality speakers resolved the issue. -
@mike-peterson Positive Grid have been there with a head which clearly didn't sell enough. I'd be surprised if they go there any time soon, especially as it would need to be different in output if they wanted to use guitar cabs.

I have been experimenting with my Airstep spk, and I am quite pleased to tell you that it actually works with mobius looper, didn't think that I could actually make it a go, but I did. I have studio one and that looper is fine. I have a looper pedal that also works great. Mobius is waaay fun, and using the foot pedal makes it even better. I just get a kick out of using my foot to control my computer - I can even play the loop through the studio speakers, and raw uncut through my spark. Fun stuff.
