Spark Control USB charger: 1A vs. 2A?
-
So just getting around to begin using my new Spark Controller. Really excited, opened the box, ready to charge it up and wouldn't you know -- the USB charger it specifies is 5V 2A (only the cable comes in the box, no charger). Most USB charges that people are likely to have laying about are going to be spec'd at 5V 1A. Does anyone know if you can safely use a 1A USB charger for the controller? Sure, there's also the option to use a 5V negative center-pin DC wall adapter, but that's a unicorn also. Personally I would have paid a few more dollars to have the right USB charger thrown in the box had I known in advance. Just saying, it's a bit inconvenient and somewhat of a killjoy, not to be able to hit the gas and go right when you open the box.

The Spark Controller typically requires a 5V 2A USB charger for optimal charging. While it may be tempting to use a 5V 1A USB charger that you already have, it's generally not recommended. The lower amperage might not provide sufficient power to charge the controller efficiently or could potentially cause damage to the device.
If you're unable to find a suitable charger with the required specifications, it's advisable to look for a charger that meets or exceeds the 5V 2A requirement. You can check local electronics stores or online retailers to find a compatible charger. It's always better to use the recommended charger to ensure the safety and performance of your device. Check out the Help Center FAQ, Any 5V USB Charger that supports a minimum 500mA works. I use a 9v negative center-pin wall adapter that I had for a standard “real” pedal, and it works great.
