SPARK - unusable sound - muddy jumbled notes - awful
-
I have now had my spark for over 12 months - I am at my wits end - I’ve tried new premium guitar cables - running through three different guitars - including a pretty high end USA Fender Tele - cannot get any note clarity or definition- to the point that my spark is unplayable - sitting idle - only usable as a rather attractive and expensive desk ornament - I have made repeated efforts to get help (advice) from customer support - to no avail - to make matters worse I attempted another futile SPARK practice session last week - only to be greeted by very a set of very much unwanted - in app purchase options for the Hendrix Experience package - if I wanted in app purchases I would have bought myself a gaming PC and not a SPARK practice amp - this is totally unsatisfactory - PG - please help

@chris-6 This is exactly what mine is doing. Did you get a fix?

My Spark has just developed a fault making it unusable. When a jack plug is inserted into the input it makes a horrible noise very similar to radio interference. This changes in intensity when a different setting is selected.
it was suggested that I carryout a factory reset and firmware update. But this has made no difference. I have had the unit over two years but if doesn't get used that often. Are there any suggestions as to what else I could try. -
@bwicks64
When I’ve experienced this problem, it turned out to be either a bad cable, or a 90 degree cable plug that became dislodged by a control knob when moved. Assume you’ve ruled out a damaged/degraded cable and guitar jack.If you haven’t already, I’d suggest you try cleaning the input jack. Debris could be preventing full contact with the plug which results in poor grounding and the interference noise you described.

@dan-lawrence a squirt of contact cleaner fixes a lot of amp noise problems! Not all but a large percentage. In addition, if not tried already--try plugging it in in a different room or even outside the home (work?) I have a Marshall amp that I cannot use in my living room. Works in other rooms. Static in the line, interference from other devices, and the wiring of the home itself can all interfere with amp sounds.

@chris-6
I am experiencing at minimum the same issues and possibly more. The 40 is unusable so probably headed to the trash bin. I find it stunning that no one from PG has posted to your post is almost a year.I'm sure that what I'm experiencing is somewhat normal for modeling products, noise, breakups, volume peaks and drops etc. Unfortunately, I travel for my job and put this amp in a closet for almost a year before really trying to get into it but these anomalies we happening early on and I should have addressed them then. My Bad. Did anyone with PG contact you privately and were the issues resolved?
Many Thanks...

Unfortunately, in my 1 1/2 years since purchasing my Spark 40, I have seen very little forum monitoring by PG personnel. A Support Ticket appears to be the only way to contact PG personnel with questions or issues. Almost all of the help and advise provided on this forum come from members, either sharing their own research results, or occasionally their Support Ticket information.
