Getting started

OK, I just installed the software and wondered about how to get an input going. Sorry if this has been covered - but just getting on the forum here was painful and I absolutely hate that I cannot opt out of communications from the company to post on the forum.
Windows 10 - Mixpre 10T - ASIO - If I select ASIO as main input output, I can get this working. But then if I want to record using my DAW I can't because you can't have 2 instances of ASIO up and running at the same time.
How do you get a guitar input then send the signal to the DAW? I found an old piece of gear called the Stealth Plug and tried using it for input - its a 1/4" to USB - At first it showed up as a device, but playing around I tried the ASIO drivers and the Stealth disappeared never to return.
I really don't want to have to buy another interface to use this software.
Thanks.

You should be using it as a plugin inside your DAW, not the standalone. That way it's your DAW that is using the ASIO driver. There's a VST and VST3 version. Which DAW are you using?

Thank you for the reply. Will midi work this way? I purchased this package due to how badly midi reacted to Helix Native as a plug in. I want to use a midi foot pedal to control FX and patches.

@mikekay I want to be more specific in the midi implementation with Helix Native: midi would not talk directly to the Native FX or controls. You had to map the controls to envelopes (in Reaper), such as volume - then you could control various parameters. On top of this, the VST window had to be open. If you closed the window, no control.
I want BIAS FX mainly for live performance. For this I have a MIDI Commander foot pedal. My DAW is reaper, although I have a few options with DAWs.
If I can get the guitar input sorted, (staying with stand alone) I'm going to try routing the outputs to my DAW using VB Audio virtual cables.
Any advice appreciated.

So, I found another interface and hooked it up. loaded drivers, then installed the VB virtual audio cables, to see if I can get this to work the way I want it to. The answer is no. Again, the first time I tried the VB cables came up as an option, I got a message that said no such device - and they are now just gone. Never to appear as a selection again.
Another thing - it appears that to use this software you MUST be connected to the internet. Please tell me this is not so...I'll be in many places using this package where there is no internet - thus it will be useless. I've contacted support, but the reply message thinks its still the holiday season and the call volume is really high...this does NOT give me much confidence.
Without even hearing a single note - I am worried I've wasted time and money. Will try to be patient and see if anybody else out there in BIAS land can help out. Looks like support is still working on Christmas support issues.

@mikekay I use ASIO Link Pro for multi-client ASIO. It's an old interface, takes a little bit to figure out the proper settings, the owner died years back so its abandonware--- but it is free and it does work extremely well for multi-client ASIO in a Windows environment (It still works in Win 11). I run 4 instances of Gig Performer and one Reaper for my show. I easily route audio between the applications in a real-time environment. It's amazing.
The login screen can be annoying---but you don't need to be connected to the internet in order to use the software. Once you've logged in the first time, it validates your license and then you can just ignore the subsequent requests to log in.

THANK YOU! I am back at the audio machine taking a deeper look at gig performer and ASIO link pro. ON this machine the web site works fine, on my upstairs machine the reply or quote buttons don't work...weird. I am installing the ASIO Link Pro right now and going to try this again.
If I log out of Tonecloud - the login screen stays right in my way, with no way to shut it down or get around it. So how do you close the log in window? If I have to be connected to Tonecloud then I can't use this off line. Sorry, this should not be so stupid...

@mikekay Are you using BIAS FX2 or AMP?
I wouldn't log out of tonecloud.
What happens if you stay logged in, close the client, then re-open?
I recall there being an option to dismiss the login process. FWIW my machines aren't online and I use this software just fine. I use the plugin versions though, not the standalones.
