Hi everyone, still getting familiar with my Spark. Have 2 questions if anyone can help:

      • Most of the Tone Cloud presets sound or too loud or kind of breaking sound and not a clean tone - is this something that is related to the volume levels? I can rarely find a nice-sounding preset on Tone Cloud.
      • The other problem I have is when I try to record something in Garageband, the signal level is very low and the guitar sounds very quiet, master volume doesn't really help. See screenshot - I am recording sing Audio Recording to avoid any guitar presets from GB itself. See screenshot.

      Many thanks for any help!!!

I also found many of the ToneCloud Presets loud or noisy. I can usually clean it up by adjusting the Amp Gain and Volume in the Spark App. Very occasionally it’s the Noise Gate or Boost Pedal settings.

Everyone contributing to ToneCloud uses a different set of equipment, with different volume settings on each. The sound they hear is not necessarily the sound you get! While the saved Preset captures the Spark App amp/pedal settings, it doesn’t capture the Spark 40 Output Volume or Guitar volume/tone settings. Differences can also occur if using a digital audio workstation like GarageBand, a digital guitar interface like iRig HD, headphones, etc.

I’ve found the same problem with other equipment where users can share Presets or Setups via forums or user groups. The full ‘recording’ equipment chain greatly affects the quality and usability of the resulting Preset.

@dan-lawrence Thanks Dan, I have managed to get the Tone Cloud presets all with really optimal sound on my Spark, the trick here is to lower the OUTPUT volume to say 9 o'clock or just 25%.

The problem of the low signal level in Garageband is still there, I did try with all volume options on the spark and in Garageband, but didn't manage to get it on the same level as when you add any other instrument in the song or any available loops. The setup is pretty simple, USB cable from the Spark into Macbook Air all on the same OS and the latest version of GB.

Great! 9 o’clock or 25% is about where I keep the Spark 40 set myself. I can adjust between Presets with the guitar from there.

Can’t help with GarageBand as I haven’t recorded myself.
