Terrible Sound

I've had this amp for over a year now. I stopped using it out of frustration and tried recently to really work on it's operation.
The sounds that I get out of the Spark, mostly from the cloud are horrible. The presets from there often cut off at a certain volume. They also go in and out like a Phaser effect almost.
At first I though it was my wireless guitar system. So I used a cord instead. Than I lowered the gain and tried, then lowered the master volume and tried; etc. etc. Nothing works. Every once in a while I capture a nice sound, but not enough to keep using it.
I just tried to update the software on the Spark as well as the app. No improvement.
Has anyone had this experience? And if so, can it be corrected or do I just have a dud amp like so many seem to have?

Well I'm not much for downloaded presets. Have you tried starting with a clean Fender amp and going from there and creating your own? The sound cutting out may be the Noise Gate pedal, lots of download presets set it high because they are high gain. Turn the threshold way down or off completely. What exactly is terrible about the sound?
