Got new spark today, worked fine out-of-the box but stopped working when I tried to upgrade the firmware it shipped with. All red lights are flashing at the same time. I've read several posts with the same issue but not solution. Any ideas?

@den-paul customer service will send a file to run on your terminal while the upgrader is running. That solved the firmware upgrade issue. The app connected successfully to the amp, however there is no sound coming out of the amp... Very frustrating... brand new amp and having been able to use it...

Thanks for getting back. Your reply is appreciated.

Please download the attached New Spark Firmware Updater with Log (AKM_WIN).zip file (see attachment) and follow the steps below:

              1. Unzip the file
              2. Double-click Run_Updater_With_Log.bat to execute it
              3. Wait until the Spark 40 reboots itself. The LED would get back to normal from the flashing state.
              4. Check if the update is successful and the output resumes. If not, please send the log.txt file (generated in the process) in the same folder back to us.

Furthermore, please know that it is not required for non-Jimi Hendrix™ users to update their Spark amp but if you are planning to get one, it is necessary to go through this process.

Let me know if that works for you. Thank you.

              Sincerely,

              Faye

Having the same issues as others here. Firmware updated failed, 5 flashing LED's, won't factory reset. Tried using another computer, new ASIO install, direct USB connection with no success.

I see that 'Faye' (Positive Gride) has referred to a 'New Spark Updater with Log (AKM_WIN).zip file to hopefully resolve this issue. Where is it possible to download this file?

                  Regards,

                  PtP

                    @gary_hutchings

"ok thanku for the quick reply i followed your instructions and the amp still has no sound.
the log file {log1}is after running the batch file which rebooted the amp but firmware showed the updated 1.5. firmware
i then ran the updater file and checked log file and it reverts back to 1.2.3.37 version (log 2) and still no sound output ."

@gary_hutchings no, they haven't even made the fixed upgrader file available online –maybe they realized that it doesn't work either (it solved the 'upgrading / 5 flashing lights' issue, but now I don't get any sound at all). Still waiting for a reply.

Any update on this issue. Just received new spark and as i tried to connect to my IOS a notice popped up asking to upgrade the firmware. After connecting to computer and going through process to update firmware now itr does not respond to anything except all lights flashing. Frustrating when you get something that is supposed to be exciting and this happens. Please help resolve this.

@cacophonix-gaul same issue reported thousands of times... you need to get a new upgrader file (with more logs) from customer service (I believe another user has uploaded the file to the forum if you don't want to wait) that runs on your terminal, successfully upgrades the firmware and unblocks the amp. However, you may get no sound after that (that's where I'm at now... over a week waiting for a reply from customer service). I'm guessing they are overwhelmed with the new firmware bugs and their engineering department is trying to figure out what is the issue and push a fix. This product seems to be great when it works, but is seems like there is not a single spark user that is not frustrated with how unreliable and plagued with bugs these amps are

Got a quick response to my Sunday help request from PG on Monday, requesting details I'd already given them along with serial number. However, link to an updater bat file arrived today, ran it and all now OK with latest firmware. Have to say that's a pretty quick resolution.

New update - After few emails back and forth with support team, PG responded with a attachment and a .bat file to run in my computer. I ran the .bat file while the spark was connected, it stopped the contineousl flashing and updated attached firmware and then proceeded to download the new updated version of firmware and upload in my spark. It is working now. Purchased online Thursday, received Saturday before noon. Uploaded firmware 3 pm and spark crashed and immediatly started the support process . Monday evening received the resonse with file attachement. The PG responded well and I am satisfied with their response, but definitly this was not expected of something that is so popular in the guitairist world.

My latest email to PG. No Sound.

                                        Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for your prompt reply, I have tried all of the steps that you have outlined on the Positive Grid website to no avail, still no sound even with headphones.

I have given the amp several factory resets and updated the firmware successfully on my Win 11 and Win 7 machines through different usb ports on both. I have tried different cables on 3 separate instruments, still no sound through the amp.

Used Windows Operating systems 11 and Win 7 (different machines).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

                                        Regards
