Recording over another track in audacity

I can record myself on a single track fine. If I try to record a second track I can't hear my original track......has anyone had this problem? Audacity version is 3.3 the latest.

@darrell-speck In the Edit menu, select Preferences, and then select Recording. In the dialog for that, at the top is a section called "Playthrough" -- be sure the box is checked for "Other tracks while recording (overdub)"
