If you record Spark to your DAW....

Maybe I'm missing something easy, but, if you use the Sparks USB output as an Input device to record into your DAW, are you able to monitor the results thru your audio interface (assuming you have one and if not, thru your mobo's onboard soundcard, etc) ? I have been having to switch back and forth between the Spark for tracking and my audio interface for mixing/track playback..not ideal to say the least and the two DAW's I use, Cakewalk Bandlab and the bundled Presonus Studio One OEM Artist that came with Spark do NOT allow for seperate INPUT and OUTPUT devices that I can tell....major bummer..

@opamp if you use usb, the Spark is the audio interface. If you've installed the asio drivers, you should see it on the device list.

@scottakam Yea I've recorded thru the USB out into the DAW many times , but have always had to monitor the results thru the Sparks speakers...I have my studio monitors connected to my audio interface, a MOTU M4, but have heard tell that windows (and the DAW) can't select aggregate devices, ie- the Spark for input and the MOTU for output...One workaround is supposedly the ASIO4ALL driver, but it doesn't seem to recognize the Spark as an input source...that's what I'm trying to sort out....

An update for anyone else that may not have been aware....I kind of sort of had heard about the ASIO driver called ASIO4ALL for many years but never paid much attention to it, because I'd never needed it 'til now...that in fact, will let you do what I'm wanting to do....have the Spark's USB output as the input device into my DAW and select my audio interface as the output device, to be able to monitor what I've recorded thru my studio monitors....It's a bit finicky in the setup, but once you have your devices including the Spark selected in the ASIO4ALL app, you can then go into Presonus Studio One OEM Artist that came with the Spark , and on a song by song basis, setup of the Spark as Input device, and your audio interface as Output device. Very cool. It works well so far although I had one instance where no sound came thru an armed track so I restarted Studio one and then it worked...I did try it in Cakewalk Bandlab and had horrible glitchy sound, not sure what's going on there, but Presonus Studio One works pretty well and may induce me to upgrade to the flagship version or their monthly subscription service where you get access to all kinds of stuff in addition to the flagship version of Studio One.
