Re: [Studio One/Spark](/topic/5664/studio-one
I updated the firmware (PC), installed the usb driver, but can't get Studio One to recognize the Spark for audio input - i press record and there's no bar scrolling across the screen, nothing. How do i get this to work? Not a very clear explanation of how to set this up.

@sdzimmerman On my Windows 10 installation using Sound Forge as my DAW, I experienced the same problem. I had set the sound driver to Positive Grid in Sound Forge, but that did not work. When I tried to select the Positive Grid as the default Windows sound driver, it did not appear as an option until I had plugged in my Spark Pearl. After selecting it as the default Windows sound driver, Sound Forge still was not able to open the record channels. I switched the Sound Forge option from Positive Grid to Microsoft Sound Mapper, and lo and behold, the record channel worked. It also worked with Direct Sound Surround Mapper and Windows Classic Wave Driver. But only if the default Windows sound device was specified (for both input and output) as Postive Grid.
This is weird. I have worked with many other sound interfaces under Windows and NONE of them required use of Microsoft Sound Mapper in order to make use of the drivers.
I haven't yet gone back to trying Studio One Version 5, but will do so to see whether it behaves any differently.
In any case, the key to getting access to the input channels seems to be to select the Positive Grid driver for the default Windows sound device. Note this inconsistency: Without doing so and selecting the Positive Grid sound driver in Sound Forge, playback works fine. Only the recording inputs are unavailable.
Crazy.

Windows is such a creepy operating system when it comes to creative work. On a Mac, all you do is connect the Spark and the next time you fire up Studio One (or Logic Pro) the software asks if you want to use it as an input device. No driver installation, no configuring, no fuss. @Jeff-Frost did you define the Spark as an input device in Studio One settings? From your text it looks like you just connected the amp via USB.
