Bias fx on a budget laptop.

That footswitch is literally the cheapest, i picked one up on ebay fir £90, then you need to purchase an Eprom mod chip that changes the midi to cc messages. I researched this before. Roland have a pedal that looks pretty much identical but costs £250+. I’m not sure where you are or conversion rates, etc.
If you’re looking to compose, ipads are excellent. There are some brilliant multitracking apps, cubase actually have an ios version, the whole package would be considered ‘budget’. I have some multitracking apps i use for demoing, damon albarn (gorillaz singer + writer) uses ipads to compose, released a whole album he recorded and sequenced entirely on the ipad. For a creative, ipads are excellent.
You might even get a bargain if you wait until that new $1000 ipad drops cause all the previous models come down in price. Ipad air 2 has been amazing for me. Very reliable. I have it in a case. The great thing about using bias live is you can even lock the screen of the ipad and hide it away with background audio mode on. So i have my ipad closed and locked and stuffed in my pedalboard case, and i follow the led lights on the footswitch to know what sound i’m using.
