Is it possible to play along songs from Spotify while running BFX2 on my DAW? Or I'll have to download Spotify to MP3 and load the songs?

Spotify has applied the Ogg Vorbis format in all songs and playlists to keep the music from being freely accessed outside of the Spotify App. So you can use Spotify songs on other devices without the Spotify app. In your case, you have to make use of a professional Spotify downloader. Such kind of tool is developed to convert Spotify to common audio formats and save them to local files losslessly, so that you can play Spotify music anytime and anywhere on any device without limits.

If the device is integrated with Spotify, you can connect Spotify to it and play songs. But this will require you a premium subscription. If they're not integrated, the best way is to download Spotify songs to other common audio formats. Because the Spotify downloads are encrypted. you need to remove its protection to stream on other devices. Just try the third-party tool like AudFun Spotify Music Converter.
