External Noise Gate
-
Has anyone had any success using an external noise gate with the spark at all? I know it's unlikely as there's only the option to have one first in the chain but thought I'd ask. I've tried an ns-2 but hasn't worked well.
The on board noise gate is pretty terrible.

@jon-elmore So when you tried the external noise gate, did you disable the one that's built-in to the Spark? The built-in NoiseGate is horrible. And over a year ago the CEO of Positive Grid promised that new effects would be coming, yet the few updates to the app have done nothing to improve or change or offer new effects.
With the built-in noise gate disabled an external noise gate should work fine, in theory. I wonder why your experience says it wasn't very good.

@dhbailey Thanks, yes I did disable the spark
noise gate. The problem is without an fx loop on the spark you're stuck with any external pedals at the beginning of the chain and if you could move the gate along to place it behind the drive pedal I think it would work.If they could sort out the problem with the rubbish onboard noise gate and also give the flexibility to move it around in the chain to be able to target the source of the noise it would be great.
I'm just getting a little frustrated with it at the moment. With some of my high gain tones the noise is pretty bad but then using the noise gate really cuts off sustaining notes even with the gate settings at a minimum.
It would be great if they could address some of these issues in a future firmware update but if not I may sell it on to be honest.
