Bias amp processor
-
I've only used modelers and have have never own a "REAL AMP"
I am planning to get a bias head processor and would like to know if I can use it with my alto powered speaker? Or should I buy a separate power amplifier?
And also if I use it for gigging how would be the most possible setup?
Thank you

I just recently bought a bias head processor for a good price. I send one of the xlr outputs from that to the return on a 120 watt head which I have going to a 4x12. It works well.
But i also have an acoustic combo-amp with an effects loop. I plan to have bias amp go to the return on that acoustic amp wen I play acoustic and believe it should work just fine. I have not tried yet. But it should work okay. I believe that using a powered speaker as you plan would be very similar to using an acoustic combo-amp.
To be honest I was impressed reading about the Spark amp.... and realized I like the Bluetooth ability to connect and select amp and pedal effects. I did not like needing to do mods for an external speaker and external pedals..... so I looked at bias head mini... and then bias head processor.
Although..... bias amp 2 app will connect between iPad and bias head processor.... but you should realize that the bias fx app does not connect to bias head. I thought it did when I first bought the bias head processor.
Oops. I messed up... although you can hook up an iPad and usb audio in the bias head fx loop.
Or the more expensive route. I decided that I like this bias head setup enough that I just bought the bias pedal modulation and also plan on buying the other bias pedals. Using the bias amp2 app and bias pedal app on this setup is very nice and works kind of like the bias fx app.
Although do I wish that if you own both bias head and bias pedals that they would support the bias Fx app... at the very least for the pedals you do own. In fact that was probably their original plan.... and they had latency issues and abandoned it. So I don’t really ever expect to see that happen. But you never know... since they did something similar with Spark... they could probably in theory do it.
Anyway... I think your plans seem good..... I would say go for it....
UPDATE; just tried the acoustic combo and using xlr to return is a “go”. And I can go to the normal 1/4” input also... although takes a bit more of volume controls.....

@keithlm
Thanks for the reply manMy plan is to connect my pod hd500x via 4 cable method so I can use effects and use the head as my main amp
I have the spark and it's great for practice. I have been looking at the bias head for quite sometime now but couldn't justify the cost then I saw a bias head processor with a price that is within my "justified purchase price" hahaha
Hopefully the missus will not get angry when she sees another box for me (although she enjoys the spark as a Bluetooth speaker)

I was the same as what you just said... the price was so good I could not say no.

update::: btw just got all 3 bias twin pedals. More money than I wanted to pay overall.
But omg this is so freaking fun it’s scary.....
I think with this setup I can see the appeal of the Spark amp...
I also think I can use bias fx to seek and find the”sound” I want... then download the proper amp and pedals into the hardware memory slots as needed.

@hezetabry Hi, I would like to do the same setup here with the POD HD500x as the effects and the Bias Mini as the AMP. I was wondering if you managed to connect this up and how did it go?

@domch1 was able to do it using bias mini.
You need to do the 4 cable methodGuitar cable to pod hd500x guitar in
Pod fx send to Bias instrument in
Bias effects send to pod fx return left/mono
Pod unbalanced out left/mono to bias effects return
