How to use my own MP3's as backing track ?
-
Well I have to say guys, this is getting interesting because as an engineer, coder and a user of iRig for a very long time ( since the 1st version ) you can do what I'm suggeting here with iRig since v1 and it's alllllll running in the iPhone/iPad as it is, So here is the use case ( because Spark already does 99% of what I'm suggesting here ) is not complicated at all.
So, let's say you have a youTube track and you want to Jam along. Say something super famous like this. https://youtu.be/eSsnL4l7IwI "Use Me" By Bill Withers in E Dorian - 80 BPM. Super track right ? Ok, so with Spark as it is, you can ( from the app ) load it and start playing along with the Spark system. Great. So what's stopping the Amp itself ( which is where your guitar is plugged in ) to send the output back over bluetooth, or over your Wifi to the app once you hit a record button. It's all being done at the DSP level and then sent out to the speaker anyway. Or if it is ALL being done at the APP level ( I'm not sure if the guitar is being sampled by Spark Amp itself at the Amp box or by the App - no one has been clear here on that one yet ) but either way, the guitar effects select are sent as a mono track to the app yes? If the App has the same basic recording capabilities ( buffered or not ) and then there you go. .
I think what everyone is saying here is the the Spark app has this functionality anyway - it's built in. More a .mp3 file can easily be sent to the spark app from your PC via a FTP transfer upload straight from a web browser to your iPhone directly OR you could do this to the Spark cloud storage etc., and THEN to the Spark amp app as a MP3 being played with Spark is the same as a YouTube track being played so to be able to load your own Mp3''s in to spark is literally a day of coding at best for the Spark team. Simply a Youtube track, a MP3 file, or any other audio file it's ALL the same once it is loaded into the App or the Spark amp itself.
Recording ( and multi track recording ) I can understand might be a bit more, but this is SUPER basic functionality on Any guitar VSTAK like system such as Spark iRig, etc. and always has been since v1 yes ? There isn't any need for garage band, complicated softare, plugin via USB to a PC, Spark already does this practically. A simple UI is all that is needed from what I see so far.
So how can we get to the VP of Product Dev for Spark? Our discussions here are super interesting and I think everyone agrees it's very possible to do, now it's just a question of ( if i-Rig has it, and they are a direct competitor ) how long, how important is this for the development of the Spark team to get this on the next release priority list?
thoughts?
how can we get to the VP of Prod Dev ?
