Reverse Amp Match?
-
Hi, I love the sounds I get from BIAS FX 2 and BIAS AMP 2 through my headphones. But sometimes I want to hear those tones out loud through my real amp and cab. I have two amplifiers that I use interchangeably (Orange Terror Stamp and Marshall VS100 head), both with effects loops, going out to a custom-built 4x12 Marshall 1960A clone (loaded with Celestion G12T-75s and Vintage 30s in an X pattern).
So far, what I have done is set my Scarlett solo up as an input and mono output into the FX return of whatever amp I'm using at the time (both amps amplify that signal at full volume, so I use the volume knob on the solo to control the output signal). Then I turn off cab and power amp simulation in the global settings (I think that's the right thing to do in this situation, but let me know if I'm off here). This sounds pretty good, but maybe a bit muffled (some of the high end is cut off), but if I tweak the EQ and resonance, I can get it even better.
My question is, can I get the software to measure the impulse response of my setup and use that like a reverse (or inverse?) impulse response to counteract the coloring my amp/combo adds to the sound? It seems like the technology is already there with BIAS AMP 2's amp match, but instead of trying to model my amp/cab, I'm providing a reference sound to apply a reverse IR to the sound output that will cancel out my setup's unique sound coloring and make it perform closer to a FRFR system, but with the gear I already have.
Hopefully this is already possible and I just haven't found it yet.
Thanks in advance, and let me know if you have any suggestions on my setup!
