Celestion Modern/Vintage IR tab gone!?!
-
Ok after the update the celestion Modern/Vintage ir window is gone, i would have loved to try em out for a fair price.
-
So the solution to people (like me) complaining about Modern Vintage not being part of Elite is to remove the tab to make it less noticable? That's disappointing.

Although I think the launch could have been better, they should have had the 100 new presets ready and the BIAS FX integration sorted out to be go at launch, I had no problem understanding that the Celestion Classic cabs were included in Elite and the Celestion Modern Vintage Cabs were an extra purchase and not included, it said as much on the comparison page for the different tiers.

@jih64 OMG, and plus, all the free IR's out there? I have gigs and gigs of IR's. And I own the four Celetion® IR's that I'd ever need! A 25, 30, 65, 75, boom. Pro is the way to go ;)

Should i have looked better at the comparison page? Probably. Some of the videos+ that were published did a pretty bad job at making this point clear though.
In regards to free IRs and official Celestion IRs: Not everyone has them and even more importantly using free IRs or non included payed IRs will lack the nice integration and blending between different mic positions etc. It's just not equivalent.
The lack of information and response is a big part of the issue though i would say. For example when i asked support i received a "We have heard that a lot and are looking into it" response. And now a silent removal just leaves a bad taste. Also not having a clue about pricing for the add-on adds to confusion and uncertainty. I pre-ordered elite, not being an existing customer so the IRs are something i just spend 100$ on :)

I compared the specs between the BA2 packages pretty much as soon as the announcement was made and it was pretty clear (to me at least) that the modern Celestion IRs would not be included. I did have the opportunity to beta test the software before release and had a chance to mess around with all the IRs. I tend to stick the the Greenbacks, so for me the Elite program pretty much met my needs (plus some). As for the $100 increase between Pro and Elite, I paid it. Here is why: Integration. I have some of the official Celestion IRs (purchased online at the Celestion page). I loaded those into BA1 and BA2 and really liked what I was hearing. They are not cheap to purchase, but if all you want is one type of cab, that may be the option for you. Once I got BA2 Pro, I loaded the 4x12 Celestion IR into program. Sounded nice, but based on my experiences beta testing, not as nice as the integrated Celestion 4x12 in BA2. The ease of use in BA2 really helped seal the deal as well. I recall paying about $11 for just the 4x12 Celestion Greenback cab. That's one cab. In BA2 I have five speaker options and 3 cab settings (plus open and closed backs). I was able to dial up killer tones right away too. So that's my experience.
Now, on to the real question. How much longer do we have to wait for integration of Bias FX with BA2. I need my pedals!

@instinctvfx I hear what you're saying, but I'm talking about the "known" free IR's (Red Wirez, etc.) that are indeed professionally "created". Same process as Celestion® basically, except without the brand name. But yes, not all IR's are equal (and the rabbit hole of reverb IR's can be maddening, lol, at least a speaker sounds good or bad right away basically). I'm not sure how many cabs Elite comes with, but $100 (or $50, depending..) is a really good deal. I personally already own all the Celestion® IR's I'd ever need, so I'm more concerned about the indexing at this point (and the fact that u still cannot read entire file name on display). Actually, what you can do in BA is pull the cabs and load a good stereo convolver after the BIAS plugin, like NADIR by Iggnite®. Awesome, free IR loader. (and the lack of hi/lo pass filters on stock cabs can suck when it comes to mixdown..) Thanks for the reply! Lemme know if you'd like me to point you towards some IR's. Tell us about your setup ;)
Cheers!

And I too already own the only four Celestion® IR's I'd ever need. I'd check out the Red Wirez collection of free IR's of a 4X12 w/25wGreenbacks with like 15 different classic mics. Neuman, Royer, Shure, Etc,.). there's a few more that are just as useful as the band names - in fact I've found many free IR's OF Celestion speakers that actually sound better than Celestions® themselves. Ok, that's enough advertising for another company here. (Sorry, P.G. overlords! jk ))
