Matching presets for my favorite songs.
-
Hello,
I like to play my Spark amp together with backing tracks of my favorite songs, that i let play over the Anytune app.
There i can change the pitch and have a perfect control over the volume of each backing track. And the app remember the changed settings of the songs.
Searching useable sounds in the Tonecloud, fitting to the songs i like, was often not successful. So i have made the presets, that i was looking for by myself. I made the presets so, that they should sound the best together with the original backing tracks, i.e. in the band context.
I created the presets with Les Pauls and Strats, depending on the song. My volume knob on the guitar is usually on 6. If I need a little more gain for the song, I turn the volume to 7 to 8. Only rarely higher. The tone buttons are between 7 and 9, mostly on 8.
Maybe you can also use some of the presets. You'll find the them in the Tonecloud under my name...Jürgen Conrad.
Here are the names of the presets...Pink Floyd presets:

Great share!
Reading your post made me realise just how versatile the Spark and its tone generator subroutines are. I mean 10,000 Tones in the cloud is all well and good but to have tones YOU build for YOUR songs and Your instruments is so remarkable. I'm very interested in the Anytune app you mentioned. Can you provide a link for some additional information please? That would be great. Keoki Kudos for this post.

This is really a very useful addition to the Spark app.
Play along with your own collection of backing tracks. Change the pitch and volume of the backing tracks as you need. Set tags and loop the parts you want to play or practice.
Since the program remembers the changed settings of each song, you only need to press play the next time you play it.
Choose your preset, choose your BT and off you go.
Tons of information in the net. Good point to start with:

@de_cunny Thank you for that link to AnytunePro -- of course I have to curse you, too, :) because you're costing me more money, but that seems like one hell of a wonderful app so I am buying it as we speak! And of course I'll pay the $4.99 to enable Airturn switch support. I can see how this would be such an excellent replacement for the very limited ability in the Spark app to play songs. Thank you!

any good Android ones?
-
@dhbailey I've bought and installed AnyTune Pro+ and have finally figured out how to have two apps working at once, side by side on my iPadPro(2018) -- amazingly great combination of apps!
-
The app I use is called Transcribe Plus - Transcribe Plus - does about all of the same things.
-
@crystalpit - That's a good question. All I found look sketchy.
Not sure I trust, https://baixarapk.gratis/en/app/427637607/anytune-pro
Looks suspect, and nothing got my interest on GooglePlay.
I may have to eventually submit to the Apple. -

https://anytune.us/products/anytune-for-ios/I need some clarification please. when you say “your own collection of backing tracks” do you mean a backing track of the song itself? or of a track you laid down? I’m asking because you mentioned being able to use Anytune to shift pitch. Thats a valuable tool and a technique I use with my vinyl record turntable. A pitch shift allows me to adjust for minor (but necessary) tuning differences between my guitar and the recording. By minor I mean like quarter step differences as there was only so much speed adjustment available on my turntable. Thanks, Keoki

Now you’ve done it DH, you know what I’m going to ask for dont you? Can you please describe, in basics what you had to do to run both apps so they work in conjunction with one another.
BTW how much was AnyTune Pro+ ?
-
@keoki Anytune Pro+ on iOS costs $14.99. Then there's an extra $4.99 in-app purchase if you want to use a bluetooth foot switch or midi control with it. I paid the extra.
I had read before about how to get two apps running at once on the iPad and had tried to follow the necessary steps but it never worked for me until today.
- Move the icons for whatever apps you might want to run side-by-side into the left-hand side of the Dock. It can expand to hold a lot of icons in it.
- tap and drag one of the icons you want to multi-task up from the dock and to either the left or right hand edge of the screen. It will open in a narrow version of itself. Don't let go of the icon with your finger until the app actually opens.
- repeat the process with the other icon, only drag that one to the opposite edge of the screen.
Then you can work in one app or the other as you choose. I had the Spark Amp app open on one side and the Anytune app open on the other side, and BOTH were able to play music through the Spark AT THE SAME TIME! Not that anyone would want to do that but I tried it to see if it would actually work. I was listening to a tune through Anytune and then tapped on one of the blues backing tracks on the Spark app and both were playing at the same time. It's possible to change the tone on the Spark app while a song is playing on AnyTune.
So one possible benefit would be to be playing a backing track from anywhere through AnyTune, play chords for a while with one tone on the Spark amp and then drop out for a couple of measures to change to a nice lead tone and then wail away on an earth-shattering solo (like we all play!), drop out for a measure or two to change to a different tone so that you can pretend you're the Allman Brothers Band with alternating solos by Duane Allman and Dickie Betts. This opens up a lot of possibilities!
And unfortunately a lot of expenses, too. Since AnyTune (with the extra $5 in-app purchase) will work with the AirTurn foot switches I had to upgrade the one I've got (two switches) for the newer 6-switch version. And if, as many of us have requested, the good programmers at PG add the ability to use footswitches with the app, I'll be all set.
But in the meantime I'm delighted I was able to get these two apps working together -- Anytune does what it says! If you want to slow the song down or speed it up without changing the pitch, you can do so, and instantly return it to the original speed with a couple of quick taps. You can raise or lower the pitch to accomodate using songs recorded flat (usually their flat instead of sharp) with your current intonation, and again can return the song to original pitch with a couple of quick taps.
And the looping is flawless, something which PG's programmers have a long way to go to get right. The loops are editable, with start and end points movable and the entire loop can be shifted forwards or backwards, maintaining it's current length.
AnyTune is an amazing bit of programming work and is a great companion to the Spark Amp and App.

@keoki
You can change the pitch of the backing track as you like. In whole tone steps, semitone steps, quarter tone steps up to 0.01 steps! -
Got it! Thats great, now, are the backing tracks a version of the song that you laid down, or is it a copy of the song itself? Pardon my ignorance, I'm trying to catch up with the technology thats in play here.

@keoki AnyTune doesn't create any backing tracks of its own -- it's merely an app for playing backing tracks (or any songs at all) that you have on your device. It doesn't show the chords, it doesn't show a video, it just plays what you have. I happen to have bought many Jamey Aebersold books/CDs over the years, I've also bought lots of Hal Leonard books with downloadable mp3 files, same through Mel Bay. And I've created a lot of backing tracks using Band-in-a-Box and saving the songs as mp3 files.
You have to have the backing tracks already, AnyTune doesn't provide any.
You can download some wonderful tracks at guitarbackingtracks.com and other places on the net, or you can buy books like the book Jam Along With Santana which has 8 Santana tunes that really sound like they just removed Carlos's guitar track and left the rest of the original band. Either that or it's an amazing cover version.

DH,
That’s what I was hoping it was, and apologies for asking for verification. I had a faulty understanding of what a backing track was. In my mind it was far more limited, but i now understand it to mean It’s any music played through the Spark to which you can play with or against. I initially thought it was something PG provided or you uploaded. Many thanks DH for your reply and patience. Keoki Kudos!
Keoki.

Sorry DE, @dhbailey just cleared it up for me. It was the use of the term “backing track“ which I now understand as being any music from a device directed to the Spark. For some reason the term was something far more limited in scope. Thank you for your time as well.
Keoki

I made a few additions to the first post of this thread.

@de_cunny Many thanks for the “wanted dead” and “ain’t talking” presets

If you're looking for Jam Tracks, @yourguitarsage has loaded quite a few on You Tube for several genres. He's also creating a Jam Tracks web page. Yes I subscribe to his channel but that is just a further endorsement.
