True stereo? Fx2

How do I optain true stereo....pre-amp? If i place a stereo chorus at the end of a chain, true stereo is optained, but if I place the same chorus fexs before a split,(dual) using two amps, it behaves wierd. There is a chorus efx on the upper amp and when altering the parameters in the chorus, it can be heard. But the lower amp gets a....kinda pre-defined chorus that cannot be altered. Same thing with delay efx.
The mixer is panned hard left and right....
Can anybody elaborate?
