Spark amp HUM

I am having the humming issue and the guitar is not putting out any sound either.
-
@stevegurgon i updated the firmware on Mac.. i am still getting the buzz/Hum . NO Guitar sound is coming out of the amp i have used 4 different cables and 2 different guitars. Still no sound for guitar out of amp. The buzzing/Humming gets louder as you change the amp presets. If you hold your fingers on the power switch that will deaden the hum/buz

@stevegurgon Unfortunately it sounds as if you need to request a replacement amp through the Contact Support link at the top of this page.

I received a replacement power supply unit today. Three pins, grounded. All hums seem to be gone. :-)
Open a ticket with the Support and ask for a replacement, grounded PSU. -

@drbaroni it’s not the lights, the usual suspects. My house is old with limited plug points, so running a TV,screen, various media devices etc means an undesirable amount of extensions, makes for a noisy environment. Not an issue with other SS amps though

@drbaroni ok grz

@stinger0625 Well after playing around with and getting the volume up a little bit have the hum on various amp models most prevelent on the Jumbo Acoustic and I was playing my Taylor through, had to turn the noise gate all the way up to get rid of it. Just request a grounded power supply.

@dean-miniken New power supply arrived today (it's only been 5 days since I raised the case where they offered a new power supply) and very happy to report, NO HUM! So it's an easy fix and support seem to be on top of it. If you have "the Hum" don't hesitate in creating a case with support.

Still waiting for an update for my replacement. Ticket submitted 10 days ago. Nothing from DHL either.

I’ve found that if I turn up the threshold on the Gate it eliminates much of the hum/buzz. I still hope a better solution is found with either a firmware update or sending out new ac plugs to fix the issue permanently.

I had the annoying hum when I first got the amp. Could not play it because of the hum.
Because of what I read on this forum and others I contacted Positive Grid Support and asked them for a new power supply.
I just got it in today 9/4/2020 and the hum is completely gone now. 100% playable now. Also the new power supply looks and is completely different from the one that originally came with the Spark.
The model #'s are different. The weight is different.
New Model #: YDS65-1902640
Model # that came with the amp: MSAZ2500IC19.0Hope this information can help others resolve their issues with the annoying hum.

It is the second time that I have the same problem with Spark 40. A terrible hiss in all positions and it doesn't work anymore. First time I sent it to the technical service in Poland, they sent me a new one amp and I thought that everything was fixed with the new grounded power unit (The first amp hasn't a grounded power unit). Two weeks later I have the same problem again with the second amp. The problem repeats exactly, a terrible hissy noise with plugged and unplugged guitar. The guitar don't sound amplified and not working anymore. The technical service said this time: "I will keep you posted on the shipping label to return your Spark amp to our local service center FOR REPAIR. The whole repairing process will be done in 10 business days." But my one year warranty expires in two months. What will be the support next time, out of warranty? Pay for repair it without any faith in this amp? I have two Marshalls (35 and 5 years old), two Fender (30 and 10 years old) and one Peavey (20 years old). I has not any problem with them, plugged in the same grounded outlets.
-
@ma-gomez56 I’d argue that seeing as they sent you a replacement amp or repaired the old one then surely the guarantee should continue. Not on,y that there was a message from the CEO saying that the amps have a 2 year warranty so I would argue the point seeing as there was that message which should be in the news section from last year from the CEO.

HUM HUM HUM - bought new earthed power supply, amp still hums until I touch the strings, and even then the note is distorted. WTF is going on? I waited 6 months for an amp that is unusable! PG has shit after sales communication, help is rarer than rocking horse droppings. Anyone out there have a solution?
If touching your strings resolves it, doesn't it seem like the issue might be with the instrument?
Since you've replaced your power supply with an earthed unit, hopefully that rules that out.
Can you try fiddling with the noise gate and maybe plug in another instrument if possible just to rule out an issue with the ground to your bridge.
I'm sorry you're having these problems. I feel very lucky that the only issue I've had is the strap is garbage. Replace with a guitar strap to avoid that aggravation when it fails the tenth time you pick the thing up.
