Bias FX 2 desktop app won't work in background on MacPro

What would stop Bias FX 2 Desktop app from working properly when situated behind other apps on my MacPro laptop. It was doing fine up until the most recent update. Occasionally it would start to stutter but would stop when I restarted the app. Now I can't use it with other apps in the foreground at all. It starts to stutter within about 30 seconds, but will stop when I return the app to the foreground. So much for using learning materials while playing. I've played around with sample rates and sample times and potential interface issues (which I've never had up until the last Bias FX 2 update). Changed cables even. Anyone??
