I find the overall sound very bass heavy.....anyone else?

Yup. I ended up picking up a Behringer Europort 500watt pa. I push the Spark into a channel on that pa and it gives me much more EQ capability. Sounds pretty awesome as well.

I don't use mine very often but fired it up yesterday and reminded myself why I don't use it...it really does sound horrifically muddy! I mean it is what it is right, a $250 cheapie, but the fundamental design and form factor is very good so like others here I'll look into swapping the speakers and/or blocking the port. Will try headphones to see how they sound, just to make sure the issue is primarily speakers.

@stratobiker Yes, I noticed that over-boosted mid-bass immediately too, and it is hardly to my liking. My Les Paul with clean Fishman Fluence pickups sounds more like a baritone guitar than a regular one through this amp. I also don't like how even the first two buttons kick in a non-germanium sounding fuzz with overdrive which is much more than I would normally use as I prefer a cleaner dry jazz/blues sound with any distortion added lightly. I am also having loads of problems trying to figure out how to do even simple things, like, say, toggling off that univibe or vibrato thing that comes on automatically when I first turn the thing on. I found the user's manual to be of very little help. Is there a manual somewhere which actually explains how to use and NOT-use all of this things many features. I will check the cellphone download again and try to find something. Ad others have noted here, it seems like the foot pedal is pretty much a NECESSARY attachment to have to make this thing work in real practice. All in all I am pretty disappointed right now, the thing seems much more like a work in progress than a market ready product, but I expect things to get better if and when I become more familiar with this complicated monster!

Hello guys, I am seriously thinking on getting the Spark, but I had my doubts when I watched (and heard) the comparison with the Yamaha THR30II made by Darrel Brown, and then I got here and read trough all this thread.
Now I see that the last message was posted in May 25, and since then, EQ Pedals have been released in the Spark App. Darrell himself seems to have a good opinion on that, but... I guess my question is, any of the people here with the "bassy/muddy" experience have tried this EQ, and can comment if this really fixes it? Or at least it gets sensibly better? Would love to read your opinions!
Cheers!

I noticed my music sounded much more muddy this morning. I played it through the bluetooth connection. I did a factory reset and it appears to have solved the problem. Sounds much better now. Here is how to do a factory reset from the manual. Give it a try, lmk if it works for you.
FACTORY RESET
• Turn off the device.
• Press and hold the TAP button when turning on Spark amp, then release the TAP button when it starts to blink.
• Long-press the blinking TAP button until all four (1~4) LEDs buttons blink once, then release the TAP button.
• The TAP button needs to be released as soon as all four LEDs blink.
• Press the TAP button to cancel factory reset.
• If the TAP button is blinking and the CH1 LED is on, this means the factory reset process is now complete.
• This process will reset all four presets stored on the Spark amp as well as its bluetooth pairing information. Remove Spark Amp from recognized devices in Bluetooth settings before pairing again.
