I find the overall sound very bass heavy.....anyone else?

Yup. I ended up picking up a Behringer Europort 500watt pa. I push the Spark into a channel on that pa and it gives me much more EQ capability. Sounds pretty awesome as well.

I don't use mine very often but fired it up yesterday and reminded myself why I don't use it...it really does sound horrifically muddy! I mean it is what it is right, a $250 cheapie, but the fundamental design and form factor is very good so like others here I'll look into swapping the speakers and/or blocking the port. Will try headphones to see how they sound, just to make sure the issue is primarily speakers.

@stratobiker Yes, I noticed that over-boosted mid-bass immediately too, and it is hardly to my liking. My Les Paul with clean Fishman Fluence pickups sounds more like a baritone guitar than a regular one through this amp. I also don't like how even the first two buttons kick in a non-germanium sounding fuzz with overdrive which is much more than I would normally use as I prefer a cleaner dry jazz/blues sound with any distortion added lightly. I am also having loads of problems trying to figure out how to do even simple things, like, say, toggling off that univibe or vibrato thing that comes on automatically when I first turn the thing on. I found the user's manual to be of very little help. Is there a manual somewhere which actually explains how to use and NOT-use all of this things many features. I will check the cellphone download again and try to find something. Ad others have noted here, it seems like the foot pedal is pretty much a NECESSARY attachment to have to make this thing work in real practice. All in all I am pretty disappointed right now, the thing seems much more like a work in progress than a market ready product, but I expect things to get better if and when I become more familiar with this complicated monster!
