Just got the Spark amp today and I'm trying to update the firmware. I connected the amp with the cable that came along with an adapter to my MacBook Pro (2018/latest Catalina) usb-c but nothing happens. Should I download an updater and if, where can I find it?

Someone advised shutting off all bluetooth connected to it before you connect. Can't say it will solve your issue, but it certainly can't hurt...

I tried without Bluetooth on my MacBook but nothing happened then I tried same with a Windows 10 machine and nothing. Maybe I should start reading the warranty section and start ranting about this in fb. Frustrating waste of time.

Or is it so that the v1.2.3.37 Beta is the only available firmware version and I should download that etc.?

@famous1000 I just followed the instructions from the web site.

                  https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038685111-How-To-Update-The-Firmware-on-Spark-

I downloaded the "zip" file and opened it which decompressed it and gave me an application (for my Mac). Then I connected my Spark via a USB cable, turned the Spark on, then ran the application. It told me the new revision, and when I clicked on the "check to update" button, sent it my Spark.

While it was receiving the file, all the preset lights on the Spark flashed away and then it was done.

                  Easy.

@andy-mcmullin I have followed the instructions several times and cannot find in #3. Download and launch "firmware update tool": Connecting directly to my Mac, but nothing appears. My Garage Band does detect it and I have used it quite a lot with the Spark.

                        EDIT: Working now. My fault.

I'm getting "“Spark Firmware Updater.app” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." when trying to update firmware. Im on Catalina 10.15.5.

                          Any suggestions?

Regarding the Bluetooth questions, it is a good idea to turn off Bluetooth on any devices you set up to connect to your Spark with the app. Like your phone. Turning off Bluetooth on your laptop or mouse will not help.

Check the Facebook spark owners group forum. Somebody mentioned that happening. They went in and turned off some security setting that allowed the software to download and run. Then it worked.
Just remember to turn your security setting back on when you are done.
