BIAS Amp 2 w/BIAS Head/Rack (Update/May/21/2018)
-
@rick-shapiro If they cannot integrate BIAS FX with BIAS Amp for the head and rack units, then the unit is going to be dead in the water.
I bought a unit thinking the BIAS FX would work with the rack unit, since I made some neat patches using the dual amps and pedal in front of the amps for the tighter metal tone.
The unit right now is kinda useless to me, since i passed up other manufactures to get the dual amp feature at least with the rack and head units.
I know it has been said many times, but unless the same features are added like other units in it's price range, it is going to flop, especially for the price range it is in.
I do not want to list pricing and features of other hardware units, but the rack and head hardware are lacking WAY behind. A little tweaking of some of the packages to integrate the dual amp feature, some effects with a selection of peddles, not sure why it is not possible for that price.
P.S I would gladly pay the little extra for this, but for the price in the units, it should come with more than what you get with the hardware units.
P.S.S: It was totally my fault getting caught up in the software I did not cross reference anything, just assume... My Bad !!!

@mike_studio I'm not aware of any products at this pricepoint that deliver the tonal quality that Bias Amp does and ALSO include all effects.
Helix is a little more expensive and doesn't come with an amplifier.
AxeFX is far more pricey and doesn't come with an amplifier.
Kemper is far more pricey, even if you don't include the amplified model.I suppose you could include something like the Fender Mustang head, but I've tried that and it didn't match up sound-wise or power-wise.
I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out here, but I'm curious what you've seen that does compete sound-wise and offer all effects and multi-amp outs, etc.

@danbieranowski
Only listing equipment in the same price range as to the preamp amp version of Bias Rack, that is what I was interested in. These are just to name a few, yes there are more expensive ones for sure, with a lot more options. Some of the products listed also come in rack versions. Then there are less expensive unit that will do all you need and maybe then some.PG Bias Rack processor - 1300 CND
Powered version more money
Let me start by saying, the amps are pretty good, and nobody will really need that many amps, but nice to have. The setup for tweaking is cool and seems to function ok. No FX and seems like no option for effects, I heard updates are slim to none, the routing is limited, no dual amp sim, and some glitches here and there, to be expected. There are many more things that are missing but to much to list. Guess the target audience would be someone who has several heads and wants some decent sound in a rack or head unit to take on the road. If you think of it in that sense, then the price point would be alright, but considering the options that are out there.Line 6 Helix LT - 1399 CND
Everything you could want and then some, maybe suffering a little bit in tone, not what I hear from other who own these units.AXE FX8 - 1172 CND
Almost everything you may need or ever use, suffering in tone, not what I hear from other who own these units.Headrush - 1300 CND
Everything you could possibly need, and maybe then some
Suffering in tone, does not seem like it, but still fresh on the market.Line 6 POD HD pro X or footboard - 669 CND
Everything you could possibly need except for IRs.Boss GT-100 - 1300 CND
Everything you could possibly want except IRs.I could go on and compare apples to oranges sometime, but the general idea is there. As others I came to PG because i was impressed with the tones, and since using the software I could integrate that into the head or rack, but that is not the case.
All these effects unit are so close in sound and could be made to sound good, that is comes down to preference, and really nobody is going to notice. I understand what some are saying ,the market is for these types of people, but have not heard anything from PG as to their intentions with the software and portable units.
The company will go through some growing pains that's for sure, and I was just disappointed in a few things, but again that was my fault, should have paid more attention.
I have 2 rack units, both combined are fantastic together (both do not offer dual amp), on their own not so much, and loaded with enough that I will never use, but the weight factor of the 2. Even though I have made it simple, I want 1 unit to do it all and weigh less, that is the era we are in now.
I could go on all day and I'm but tired of that, bottom line I made a mistake and paid costly for it, again on me to assume things. As far for home use software, seems to be a great products, and I'm not going to compare software...lol
P.S: the rack units including the rack mixer for the 2 unit where much less than the bias rack unit.
P.S.S: I could list a load of reviews from what others are saying based on what there is in the market, but to lengthy, just check out other forums.

- No FX and seems like no option for effects,
Wasn't ever advertised as having anything more than reverb
- I heard updates are slim to none,
This is just incorrect, when an update has been needed, on has come out, it's no more or less frequent than anyone else in my experience
- the routing is limited,
How so?
- no dual amp sim,
Again, never advertised as being a feature and as discussed in many other posts at this point, dual amp is not a common feature in even some of the top end modelers. That some choose to have it (Helix) doesn't matter, it's a trade of of features. The powered head is the same price as the helix in the UK so you decide between effects/dual amp and a power amp, otherwise you can get none powered and a floor unit for effects, but you miss the dual amping
- and some glitches here and there, to be expected.
What glitches have you had so far?
- There are many more things that are missing but to much to list.
I'm listening...
Honestly what are you wanting us all to say at this point? Nearly everyone on the forum has come up with a suggestion, and you just keep sprouting, 'But it doesn't do dual amp! No effects!'
Everything you've described that you want is what Helix offers; if I were you I'd refund the Bias rack/Sell it on and get that because right now posting the same answer everytime isn't getting anyone anywhere

Mike you're still comparing prices of products that serve different roles. This is nonsensical.
Also the units aren't 'dead in the water'. BIAS Amp has been plenty popular and the market has agreed that there is a place for it; there are plenty of people for which the product is exactly what they're looking for (myself included). You're just stuck on this comparison to all-in-one units, which is not a particularly valid comparison.
-
Not stuck on any comparison, I played with Bias FX and like I said my fault for not looking at this further and assuming Bias FX would integrate with Bias Amp and can be programmed into the Bias Racks and heads.
If I was comparing and knew exactly that the software would not integrate with one another (maybe at a later time) for the rack unit, I would taken a different route.
So again, it is on me, I'm just venting...
Cheers
