Bias Fx 2 available for download. Disappointing license transfer
-
Mine was also locked, but the update from few minutes ago unlocked it.
-
@elgrantimo64 What has been unlocked for you compared to the initial BFX 2 release? I have just upgraded and transferred over again from BFX 1 but nothing changed. I had Ultimate license for BFX 1. Most of the pedals are still locked just like before.
-
@midicontroller I had Elite on FX1, then I installed FX2 and transferred the Elite license to it. No Gear other than the free ones were unlocked, this is expected behavior, because as PG explained, only PACKS will transfer gear and unlock it. Transferring any of the 3 license Tiers (Standard, Professional and Elite) DOES NOT TRANSFER GEAR, they are used only to change a flag inside FX2 so you are offered a cheaper Licence for buying. That is what happened to me, once I transferred my Elite, FX2 offered me another Elite at $49 (fair price in my opinion), I paid , then everything but the Octaver pedal was locked, and remained locked until today's update.
After today's update, now Octaver pedal is unlocked, that is what I meant. -
@rmalambri
On all my IPads - it shows the price of $79.99 US down from $99.99US.I have Ultimate with everything installed.
-
@vannamalay If you followed the instructions, "exactly" as PG stated (making sure your license is on the FX1, trnasfer purchased, and then check price), and you still dont see $49 as upgrade price, then contact Pg directly, it should work, if it doesnt, then you are having some issue that deserves an individual support ticket.
-
@elgrantimo64
Agreed - have sent them a support request just then.Thanks mate!
-
@elgrantimo64 Yes, I felt $49 was totally fair. This is a big upgrade. There is no other app like this one on iOS. Loving it. They can’t work for free... If they are gonna develop new stuff they can’t give everyone who ever bought anything full licenses for life.
That said, I just want them to fix the bugs, but they always do releases like this... their QC has always been questionable the initial release always looks great but has a ton of issues... but they will issue a slew of fixes, so it will take a bit to stabilize but it’ll happen. You either tolerate it or don’t. I won’t uninstall FX 1 until this version proves itself. Shrug.
My biggest issue right now is it let me import some presets from my tone cloud but if I go to load one from the user bank the entire app crashes. You’d think they’d have tested that, LOL.
-
@elric Same boat. 100% agree. I havent been able to transfer presets from FX1 though, I tried uploading a couple on Tonecloud but I dont even see them when accessing Tonecloud from FX2. I dont have many, but there is one there I cant seem to recreate manually so I need a transfer. And, I think what Tonecloud shows when seen from FX1 is different than when seen from FX2, I cant find a lot of public presets that I see from FX1. I wonder if this is expected.
-
@vannamalay yeah. Sorry, wasn’t on the inter webs the rest of yesterday. But exactly as above. On whatever iPad you are using, make sure you are signed into PG/tonecloud with the account that you purchased the license under in BFX1 too. Just in case you didn’t already. That’s how I did it. Sucks you’re not getting the discounted price. Hopefully they will respond to you and get it sorted.
-
@rmalambri
They did respond fairly quickly..Told me that was my special price . $79.95 USD to upgrade.
Easier to not bother with long standing customers than resolve the issue.
Looks like I won’t be a PG customer anymore - there’s adequate choice know with Mooer GE-Labs, IK Multimedia...
Thanks for you help again.
-
@vannamalay Are you sure you are "Elite" on FX1 ? when did you buy your Elite license?
Maybe the "fair" price is for recent Elite subscribers, mine was purchased 3 weeks ago.
Amplitube is way more expensive, that I can tell you. And far less flexible on their chains. -
@elgrantimo64
I’ve been on Elite For a few years - Since the beginning, I also have JamUp and a few other PG products.Money is not the issue, I already have the full versions of Ik Multimedia. I had preferred the BFX interface.
It’s the principle. If you only got yours a few months ago, I am glad you got a better price. You should, so close to a new release. Personally, I believe you should have been given an even better deal.I’m happy to move on - I’m liking Mooer GE-Labs in IOS. Their customer support has been very good and are listening as well.

I would never imagine such a license transfer strategy !
Just to open BIAS AMP 2 from FX 2, I have to buy an update (see this thread)Money is not an issue if a decent value comes in return. It is not the case with such bad marketing strategy.
I leave the party up to now too, I expect PG to change upgrade options/paths and add respect and loyalty with their customers.
-
... also After todays update Tone cloud crahes !!! but why ???
-
... what about Backup from Dropbox FX 1 to FX 2 ... doesnt work also ...
-
Well, PG is up to the neck in bad reviews at the App Store and full of complains here at the forums. If that doesnt scare them and make them change direction quickly, then nothing will.
Ive been playing with FX2 since Friday, and between the inability to transfer presets, the features that are not ready, the comments from other users and PG's overall lack of response to their customers here at their own forum, Im tempted to ask Apple for a refund from everything I purchased from PG on the last 60 days (Apple is refunding money from apps purchased even more than 30 days ago, perhaps because COVID19 so I might take advantage of that)
I also own all Amplitube Packs available until this day, so I will keep my playing going anyways. -
@elgrantimo64 oh, i tried, but get negative Info from APP Shop - in my case i cant give back the APP Apple Shop refuse .... thats dissapointing ... No Money back ... shamelessness ...
whats really annoying is that my rigs on FX 1 are not to be imported into FX 2 ... so IT BY FOOT , as we say in Germany ...🤬🤬🤬
-
@elgrantimo64 Not sure about current policy at the moment, but a friend of mine tried to request a refund for the license in Bias FX 1 last year and could not get his money back.
-
... I got it from the Apple Store:
You purchased "Elite License" on May 21st, 2020 and confirm that you cannot cancel this purchase if you download or use this in-app purchase within 14 days of purchase. Sincerely, The App Store Team
... I didn't interpret it that way, but I couldn't change it. I actually hate such sales practices and they certainly do not comply with the EU guidelines ... no matter now it is too late and I hope PG will have all the bugs fixed soon ...
