Anyone out there using Spark with Active PUPS or a Variax. Everthing sounds great on a clean channel however any other setting Crunch or above just sonds like a fuzz pedal in front.

I have to roll off the volume about 30% or more to clean it up. This is also the smae for a JTV-89F in either electric pickups or with a Variax Pickup. FussLord would love it.

Plays music fine but sounds harsh and like a blown amp on anything other than a clean channel

      Thanks

@srfrdog Hi. I'm new to guitars & amps, but does an active pickup output a hotter signal? If yes, you might want to reduce the gain on the amp to compensate?

            Lower the master and gain.

@diegofiorillo-uk @srfrdog I have used my Variax 500 (so no 'real pickups') with the Spark with my modified patches and it is fine. Took a bit of work to get it right because it appeared to drive the amp more (although not sure how this is possible) and the tone sounded odd (some strange overtones). Happy with the tone now. I have also tried the amp with both an Ibanez and Jackson bass with active pickups and my Fender passive precision bass. Again settings were different between passive and active, much the same as I would expect from a non modeling amp.
Let me know how you get on. Happy to share patches on the tone cloud if you want to try them.

Hey happy to hear all going well. I have not received mine yet but I think it will be soon. I will look you up once I do as I love creating patches and sharing.
