FRFR or Standered cab
-
I am going to try bias fx mobile for my live rig, I have the patch changing all set up with a meloaudio TS mega works amazing no latency even with my 15 foot usb cable. Now I need to set up power amp and cab. I am looking at a 2X12 frfr and power amp or standard 2x12 guitar cab and power amp. anyone have any experience with any of this.
thanks john

@band5514 I personally would recommend FRFR for Bias FX, if you are okay with a miced/PA style sound. Many of the amp models, especially if they are Bias custom amps with amp matching will not translate at all to a standard guitar cab even if you turn cab emulation off.

That is close to a question i'd just posted as well.
What is frfr though?
I want to use a powered mixer or re-amp box and amp/cab.
So you're saying that even the Sim-cab/IR is turned off, it still won't translate properly to the real cab?
so powered mixer or powered speaker it is

Full Range Flat Response, basically has the entire frequency spectrum and it amplifies evenly across it. The ideal FRFR would be completely neutral across the 20Hz-20KHz range or so.

Some presets sound extremely good this way but many sound terrible. I have done this extensively with a real guitar cab and FRFR systems with FX. If any of the amps in the FX preset were amp matched in Bias Amp there is an extremely good chance the preset will require extensive post EQ to get it to sound right.
I have some presets that have two or more ten band graphics in series to try to correct them. This is why I asked for a REAL parametric EQ in Bias FX. A PEQ is a much more powerful tool...
Typically, though, I just avoid the presets with matched amp. The other thing to think about is the cab in the preset. The amp will be dialed for the virtual cab not your cab. So even non-matched presets will probably require adjustments when using a real cab.
For the most part with a real cab, when you get it dialed in, the sound is great because you have a 100% authentic cab tone which is a huge part of your sound but the unfortunate part is you have to dialthose tones yourself or tweak them extensively because the cab you are using probably does not sound anything like the IR or built-in cab in the preset. Amp matches make the problem even worse because many of the amp matches bake in the cab tone. So you are trying to EQ out some of the amp match and keep some of it. It is just dumb luck if it works well and rarely worth the effort.

If you like the tone of your FX presets in monitors this is a good call, IMHO.
