Yamaha SPX90 "Symphonic" Type Tone?
-
Hello All,
I have bought both the Bias FX2 and Bias Amp2 (not sure which package I bought Pro I think) packages and have been serving my needs quite well. Although loading up these packages sometimes causes Pro Tools to crash - sometimes requiring 2 restarts to get it up and running again - and after saving one patch any subsequent patches may or may not save, but, I can't do anything about so best to just restart the computer and try again and that I can't use any sounds created with Bias FX into Bias FX2 to fix up the noise gate that is absolutely not working properly other than recreating them in Bias FX2.
Anyway, with all the FX that is available I was wondering if anyone has managed to nail a Yamaha SPX 90 "Symphonic" effect used by the beardless Zakk Wylde in his early days with Ozzy, to me this is an amazing tone. And would love to use it. I know people with Eventide and Axe FX gear (all hugely expensive top of the line gear) can't nail the tone.
If someone has a preset please let me know!!!
Thankyou and Regards.

Well even if I did receive a response and someone had recreated the tone it produces I wouldn't be able to download the preset. Every time I try and download something from the Tone Cloud I get an error.
Fun times, fun times!
Does anyone know what is causing the error and what I can do to fix it?

I have yet to nail it, but I am still plugging away. I am thinking using the soldano sp77 model in BA2 with a deep chorus might get me close... but that tone is elusive. :-)

I have been looking at the SPX90 trying to find out more about that tone and someone said it uses four chorus to get that lush rich tone. Can't confirm or deny that, it's what I read, so, what I was thinking of doing was making a dual path tone and putting a stereo chorus in each line after each the amp to get four chorus'ssss happening. The thing is I don't know much about tone design and the signal chain - still learning. And I'm still waiting for Positive Grid to respond to my support tickets about Bias crashing Tone Cloud not working before I dive into this more.
If you have any major breakthrough keep me posted as I love the sound of the SPX90 for leads sounds like Zakk Wlyde and super clean things like "I Need you Tonight" by INXS
