Another reminder to Positive Grid...Bias FX iOS is full of buggy behaviour and you know it.

      Need fixing...

      1. No MIDI Clock - facepalm...

      2. Messed up I/O - 'Bias FX Output Select' can't even see the iConnectAUDIO4+'s 5 stereo outputs...what kind of nonsense is this, PG? Does bias FX only work with single channel interfaces???

      3. Bodgy IAA - Bias FX kills itself when I load a patch including baked in IAA. It announces, "About IAA - IAA only works in stereo output, turn on the Stereo Mode?" Stereo mode is 'on' always. It loops around every time I try to turn on an effect. Why, why why?

      4. Audio loop bug --- same as always when connected to an IAA host.

I highly recommend power users to stay away from Positive Grid products. PG say they are working on Bias FX 2 on iOS when Bias FX 1 doesn't even work correctly! These issues have been reported many moons ago and PG do not give a rat's arse. Shame!

Aside from #2, this all reinforces the point that iOS really needs a standard people will use for plugins and cross app communication. IAA and Audiobuss are WAY too sketchy for this. iOS audiounits are specc'd but people are reluctant to build for it.

Next run, I'll see if we can get a build of iOS audiounits and see what the issues are, and maybe see why manufacturers don't all add that

Sure, please let us know. There are plenty of iOS developers who are making IAA and AUv3 work. In competition to Bias FX, Yonac Tonestack works in IAA the way we'd hope for Bias FX to. Plenty of Audio Effects and Synth apps manage to satisfy their customers with unbroken products. Also, if we report an issue to to any of those developers I'm pretty sure they'll actually address the issues...not 100% but we all pretty quickly find out who the careless developers are.

I suppose PG would say something like, "it's not the intended use case for our product" (if they were to say anything at all) but it just across as completely disrespectful to their paying customers. I wrote about this on their Facebook page and they just gave some BS "thank you for your feedback"-type response.

Tonestack IAA is sketch city, it may be miles less sketchy than Bias' but its still nowhere near as robust as VST is even in a wildly open environment like windows

@pipelineaudio I know what you mean to an extent but the things I (and I assume others too) want from an app like Bias FX on iOS are present in Tonestack. What are your issues with Tonestack? I work more with laptops than iPad but I have been dabbling with iOS for some years trying to find a setup that can rival the laptop rig I use -- hasn't happened yet.

... I work more with laptops than iPad but I have been dabbling with iOS for some years trying to find a setup that can rival the laptop rig I use -- hasn't happened yet.

I think this is a very important point in setting the proper tone for these issues (no pun intended) in that the iOS environment is still in it's youth as we know it compared to like the past 50+ years of my life - "I want it to work a certain way and replace the bulk" but it is not quite mature enough as an environment to allow fully developed audio ecosystems that are rock solid stable

AU is the only way to go and will slowly overtake, will be issues and will be addressed

PG listens pretty good and is constantly interacting where they can - some of our requests require no reply but they do that too at times saying "thank you we are looking into that" and later sometimes bam they do it, overall one of the most interactive software developers I have seen in the past 2 decades next to say like "Reaper" which is top of that short list - Justin just cares

Interconnectivity will expand [I see you are testing the iConnectAUDIO4+ and I considered it as well - though this shows the tiny choices here] as Crapple opens some doors in the future and as Developers that are forward thinking open doors regardless of the "obsolescence push" and make the software more useable, take for instance "Studiomux" a program that proves a missing element was available long before Crapple started to open this door part way... - an app that proves there is 2-way audio connectivity available between computer and iDevice with the charge cable only

Has any other developer taken advantage or expanded upon this path? apparently not - but in the near future someone is going to push the right doors open

iPads can make great hardware "rack" modules both midi and audio 2 way and someday will be the norm - the computer world is slowly turning mobile anyway and should

Yes fix missing features and bugs with the next version of BFX2 as it is going to come next no matter what and I suspect they are addressing some of our concerns and it is added time we are seeing (not to mention their other projects they have going like Spark)

Making an AU iOS version yet?

                best of luck PG

Plus four billion for the AU!

tafkad, any humungo roadblocks in Juce making an iOS AU if we already have an iOS standalone build we should be watching out for?

@pipelineaudio no clue on the juice, just hoping that some of the time being spent on the next BFX2 for iOS is being used to develop an AU version finally

that alone can be huge if it is stable, other host apps can take up the slack on some of the other issues, mainly hardware related in the slim iWorld environment (soundcards, midi, bluetooth)

would still like to see a fully functional and controllable stand "alone" release that can do it all when needed without the need of any other apps, it would not be a bad thing
