Plug in audio out to monitors apogee jam stops working
Any answers

iOS audio only allows one interface at a time to be used. The problem is you have both a headphone jack-less iOS device and a headphone jack-less interface.
I guess your hub’s headphone jack is identified by iOS as an ‘audio interface’ as is the Apogee. Open an app that shows connected device names (Audiobus or AUM?) and you should be able to see what happens to the input device management when you connect/disconnect the headphone jack.
I had an Apogee Jam and when I got my iPhone 7 I couldn’t use it anymore since neither device had a headphone jack. I sold the Apogee and got an iRig HD2 with a 3.5mm out jack.
I believe some host apps (mentioned earlier) will let you use interface + built-in iOS headphone jack if present but need to verify that.

@john-franklin3
It seems you used a “camera usb kit” fron your ipad. I have an old iPad mini with a mini socket as an out for headphones andi in for devices such Bias FX. So I don’t think I can use a “camera usb kit” with mine. Or not? -
@vaultnaemsae
I will buy the iRig 2, finally.
But I think it is similar to my tascam ixzI purchased Tascam once i saw this help page of Positive Grid
https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003558023-What-audio-interface-works-with-my-iPhone-iPad-My case is number 1)
They mentioned iRig 2, Tascam ixz and other stuff to work fine with iPad and Bias FX 😔 -

So I don’t think I can use a “camera usb kit” with mine. Or not?Which exact iPad Mini model do you have? I thought all minis used lightning cables... anyway you can use a CCK (Camera Connection Kit) and there are different CCKs for different iPad models.
I did/do use CCKs /USB interfaces often but I have also used the included proprietary lightning cable that came with the iRig HD 2. BTW, I understand they don't make this model anymore.
You don't need an iRig specifically (and the less we all have to do with IK multimedia the better)...you just need an interface with an integrated headphone out (if your ipad doesn't have one!). I've used at least half a dozen different interfaces to connect with the iPad over the years. Anything that is class compliant will work. And you definitely want a USB interface not one of those Tascams with the 3.5mm plug.

@vaultnaemsae thank you very much for your helpful comments I shall try the apps later.
Why did they do away with the headphone socket ?
Hope I get it to work with my new iPad because it only shows about 23% cpu usage on some of the larger effect chain. -
@o_oliviero yes I did use a camera connection kit on the old iPad which kept the iPad charged as well as connecting to the apogee jam.
I connected to my monitors via the headphone socket.
It all work ok but certain more complex chains maxed the CPU.
Where as the new iPad I want to use was only using about 20% of the cpu. -
After reading the advice above I’m thinking of getting an iRig HD 2 plus a lightning to usb c adapter to plug into 2019 iPad 11inch any more options

I use the first version of iPad mini. It still has the headphones/microphones socket, so I have to connect my soundcard (tascam iXZ) into that socket. Today I tried to connect it to lightning dock with a device (lightning at one side, socket at the other side) but... a popup appeared to remind me that “this device won’t work with ipad”... frustrating!
Better situation for mi iPhone 8: i can use the same device as before without problems so, I think, I can use a USB Camera Kit to connect mi iPhone to Focusrite soundcard.
But it’s not useful for playing live: iPhone is too small... -
@john-franklin3 there is a benefit to using the regular micro USB cable and a CCK with charging port on lightning ports.
However, If you have a USB-C device you probably want to find a hub like the OP posted to use in combo with your iRig HD 2 via micro USB.
I'm no authority on USB-C. I've purposely avoided upgrading to any USB-C device as I had foreseen new problems and more spending. There are a number of hubs available (like the one in the OP) that enable users to connect all kinds of devices to a USB-C iPad.
For example, Apple's offering (note you won't be using the HDMI port for audio applications - probably): https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MUF82AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter
iRig HD 2 WAS sold with two connector cables: 1 x lightning to micro USB, 1 x USB A-->micro USB. This was so you could connect it to either an iOS lightning port or a regular USB port. With the CCK+Charging dongle, you could then use the regular USB connection and charge your device simultaneously. This is useful for obvious reasons and should apply to the more recent device I linked above.

But it’s not useful for playing live: iPhone is too small...I'm sorry but from your posts, it is not clear at all what you're trying to do. What kind of 'socket'? What kind of 'device'? You "have to connect it" that way? Maybe you had a one-off problem when you got that error message...I don't know as it's all ambiguously relayed information.
First-generation iPad Mini has a regular lightning port AND a 3.5mm headphone jack. Of course, if you have a lightning CCK-style device you can connect USB audio devices to your iPad via the lightning port -- as the majority of iOS musicians do. You can also use an antiquated 3.5mm audio device but I can tell you that using the 3.5mm jack for audio input applications is frequently advised against due to inferior audio quality. The 1st-generation iRig used this kind of connection and is often criticized.

Ok... I’ll try!! :)
Socket: I meant the 3.5mm insert jack for headphones (in Italy we call them “socket” and I took for granted that in English was the same)
Device: is a... i don’t know how to call it... a short cable with a lightning port (to insert into the lightning port of iPad) and the same 3,5 mm insert jack, so I can insert the tascam 3,5 jack into that cable and not into the normal iPad jack
Here is a picture of it

So: i tried to connect mi tascam soundcard
https://www.amazon.it/Tascam-iXZ-Interfaccia-Guitar-iPhone/dp/B005M7BCP8/ref=asc_df_B005M7BCP8/?tag=googshopit-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=90702482700&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3550775838890444916&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=20521&hvtargid=pla-93664962540&psc=1
into that little cable, connected ti iPad mini but... iPad mini is not able to support this kind of accessory (that was the message written in popup). But it works fine with my iPhone 8. -
OK, I understand now ;)
In the future, you might want to look at using a USB interface over the lightning port with a camera connection kit (CCK) for improved performance. -
@vaultnaemsae
I will do as soon as possible!
Thanx for your help! -
I purchased a usb camera kit!
I will receive it on sept 4th and I will test it on my iPad mini.
I will post my results here. -
@vaultnaemsae what I’m hoping to do is use the iRig 2 HD with a lightning to usb C adapter plugging straight into the iPad Pro and run the audio out to my monitors from the iRig 2 HD
-
Ok... I received my lightning usb camera kit.
I connected it to iPad mini, then the iPad charger also to the lightning usb camera kit.
Finally the Focusrite usb to the camera kit.
Nothing to do!!
A popup appears on iPad telling me that “Focusrite device needs too much energy”.
It does not work! The question is: what do I need to run my Bias Amp with my iPad mini??????
:(((( -
@o_oliviero which Apple CCK did you get? The one with a lightning port and a USB 3 port?
The quick and easy answer is get yourself a small powered USB hub.

Yes I got that one.
You mean that I need a usb hub where I can connect my focusrite and my iPad??
-
@o_oliviero you do not need a hub - the main thing is to use a good power supply (or Battery) with enough power (amperage not volts) for the iPad and the USB soundcard - I use the Apple Lightning CCK and the issue is not with the CCK at all (make sure you use a real Crapple CCK and a real Crapple USB to Lightning charge cable)
if anything it is the power that you are trying to inject into the "lightning-in port" on the CCK
you should be able to easily sort this out as I have used multiple soundcards this way with no issues (using a Mackie Onyx Artist 1-2 now and works fine) I can even use the mic phantom power this way
NOTE: I have to plug in this particular soundcard multiple times to get it to turn on occasionally which sucks a little but not hard to get past (when I do I just unplug the soundcard from the USB port on the CCK and then re-insert until it comes on)
I have posted 2 pictures if you look close you can see a battery that can run the iPad/soundcard combo with ease - you can also see a battery that can not supply enough amperage
