Positive Grid Mobile apps with new IPad Pro

I’ve used my 1st gen IPad Pro with both Bias Amp and Bias FX mobile with no real problems using positive grid’s supplied iOS/lightning cable.

I now own a new IPad Pro; which uses a USB-C cable rather than a lightning cable.

Does Positive Grid sell a USB-C cable for the Bias FX mobile device? If not, will a USB-C to Lightning cable adapter work to plug the original Positive grid lightning cable into my new IPad Pro?

If not, what solution does Positive Grid have for me, short of not selling my old IPad Pro (the new one is much nicer, smaller, etc)?

I've seen some [USB <-> USB C] adapters from crapple which is your best bet (avoid cheap cables crapple has sensing stuff everywhere these days so better safe than out of luck) and from what I've read USB C is backwards compatible with pretty much all even if an adapter is needed - google is your friend on that info

No, I need a lightning female to usb c male adapter. That way I can plug the cable that Positive Grid provides with Bias fix mobile into my iPad Pro. Unless Positive Grid makes a usb-c cable. Very kind of Positive Grid to supply a device with proprietary cables.

@johnabowen I did not realize they had made a "proprietary" USB/Lightning cable seems like a real bad idea if this is the case - was this cable for Bias Head / Rack or for their Hardware Pedals?

I don't know if I understand your question. Bias FX would be on your new iPad. Are you trying to connect to bias Head or Bias Mini? Or what are you trying to connect?

@john exactly my confusion here - bias FX for instance has nothing to do with proprietary cables in any way as it is not supported by any Bias Hardware as of yet - the only proprietary cable like this I've seen is from iConnect but I'd like to see a picture of this cable in question and also hear more about the device it "came with" or was "supplied with" if any. I'm always willing to learn something new - cheers

I've searched google for a Positive Grid USB/Lightning cable and find nothing there - I'd also expect to see a replacement available directly from Positive Grid in their store and there is no mention of this or picture of any cable anywhere on their site.

Looking at the pedal hardware and heads and seems a cable is not needed for editing (there is not sound transfer with any of their hardware) as it can also all be done via Bluetooth

Please provide pictures of your setup and cable for us just to help us be clear what you have going on

no such animal exists with Bias FX mobile

@tafkad proprietary iOS lightning cable. The end that does not plug into your iPhone or iPad (Plugs into positive Grid hardware that also has in/out headphone and guitar cables) is specific only to their device. It fails over time (like most cables) but can only be bought from Positive Grid, for thirty or forty dollars.

@johnabowen That is a Soundcard from Line 6 NOT Positive grid and the cable is for that red unit you have tape all over made by Line 6 not PG

Obviously Line 6 is the culprit and your pictures are worth more than any words - cheers

Well, you need an interface of some sort...But as far as I can tell (and I REALLY can't tell what in the world is going on in this thread), the cable from your interface to your mobile device is the problem?

This is interfacing between a soundcard and an iPad (just to be clear for others) and nothing to do with Bias FX mobile

I have 2 different posts here about 2 different soundcards and there is many many other posts detailing multiple options.

Soundcards are made for multiple platforms and a little research will tell you all you need to know about using soundcards with iOS devices - I would suggest looking into USB C and any issues as this is new with iPad and crapple claims this is to allow easier connection to sound and midi devices without need for the Camera Connection Kit (like I use) also go to Line 6 forums and support and ask when they will release a new cable for the new iPad's which I'm guessing they plan to do (if they want to support the Legacy device you are using with a new iPad) - Cheers

@pipelineaudio as far as I could understand, yes. It appears that he needs another cable to connect the new iPad with the Line 6 interface, because of the port.

That seems to be the rational interpretation. I dont understand the whole positive grid interface part of it.

@johnabowen LOL. That is the Line 6 Sonic Port. They sell replacement cables. There is no USB-C version AFAIK. Contact them for support.

Lots of class compliant interfaces work with iOS and are not limited by proprietary cables. You should consider one of those. I just got an Apogee JAM+ for my incoming iPad Pro. The JAM+ actually ships with a USBC cable (as well as lightning and USB).
