Can I used BT-2 or BT-4 to control patch up/patch down on MainStage (macos)?
-
Hi there,
I Use MainStage as a performing keyboard player, and I have a foot switch connected to my keyboard controller sending MIDI CC14, which is then mapped in MainStage to 'next patch'.
I'm looking for a bluetooth alternative and BT-2 looks really interesting - but I'm a bit confused. The product page calls it a 'Bluetooth MIDI controller' but then the FAQ at the bottom of the page mentions that only iOS is currently supported. Does that mean that if I try to pair one with a Mac and use the 'MIDI Studio' under macOS's 'Audio/MIDI setup', I won't be able to receive MIDI messages from the device?
Thanks

@shai-yallin Not sure about the BT* pedals but I know for a fact IK's blueboard works with a Mac using MIDI over bluetooth. It requires you to run their application in the background on the Mac to establish the MIDI over BT connection but it also requires an app on the mobile devices too.

Currently, BT2/4 only works with iPad , iPhone and iPod Touch.

Any updates there?

I think you can use d it, but for that, you need to know some process, which you can found Router Technical Support team.

@joe-kuo Hello. I bought BIAS FX Pro not long ago and I use it on my macOS. App is quite nice but face to a problem that I would like to switch between presets quite quickly. After googling I found this nice device but as I understand it doesn't support macOS. Are you going to upgrade BIAS FX Pro application for macOS (or PC) to support Positive Grid BT4 Bluetooth MIDI Pedalboard? I'm really interested in buying this device but currently it will not be useful for me at all.

I can suggest following thread to know very attractive alternatives

@korkenknopfus Cool!!! Thanks for suggestion! Do you use this controller?

No, I still haven’t one of them, but it is almost sure that I will search for the Melo Audio MIDI Commander. This device looks very well. An alternative is the Mastermind LT, that user tafkad says he has one in his set up.

I have the meloaudio commander. I can’t get it to work on Biasfx mobile. Can you give me your setup? I am currently using an iPad Air with apogee jam. I bought the camera adapter and it works with JamUp Pro.... am I missing something?

you have to load the biasfx firmware by pressing button 3 and turn on the device.

@esofron Do you have any problems with delay when switching between presets?

Hello @esofron
I am using now this unit with Bias FX in iPad. I use the factory setup for Bias FX, pressing button 2 at start. Changing patches, pedals and patch rows works good, but I have a question here: buttons Up and Down change the patch row group (0-1-2-3 then 4-5-6-7 and so on), but this occurs only in the unit, as I don’t see MIDI out signal with these two buttons. So I can’t assign these buttons to the arrows in Bias FX. When I press later a patch change button (A to D) it selects the correct patch in the row. But, as the Up and Down buttons don’t send MIDI I can’t see the patch row in Bias FX before I select the patch. I must know which patch is the correct just by remembering. Does work this this way in your system? Or do you have MIDI signal from the Up and Down buttons?
Thank you.

@joe-kuo I know, two years gone, but just asking. Any plans to allow BT-4 being used with macOS? I plan to completely go with BIAS AMP 2 (already an owner), Bias FX 2 and more products of you on stage, but iOS-only BT-4 does not make sense.

@cs there really is so many better solutions that are affordable - but if you are absolute set on using a bt-4 which is cool, I would suggest trying to chain midi out from your iPad into your Mac and catch it there with desktop Bias FX (or a DAW with midi controlled AU on an instr. track). You can send midi to a Mac multiple ways usb/wifi/bluetooth and the bt-4 has a midi mode that makes it compatible with other midi apps on your iPad.
I sold my bt-4 shortly after using it and realizing it just was not what I needed so I can't fill you in on any ways to use it as I suggested but midi is not that complicated to route around once you get it going somewhere.
In the opposite direction I send midi-to my mac> use Logic to catch my controller info there> and pass it out usb> to iPad with studiomux (note I also send audio this way and if you don't return the audio you can make audio come out your iPad with this method) which is good fun too.On a related post and side note, I am now 2 years with a different approach on bluetooth midi and it's just one variation that works as it should. Good luck and take care!
