Bias FX Pro - will this computer/setup work?
-
Hey everyone! I haven't played guitar since 2005 and wanted to get back into it. Just spent $30,000 on my home theater system so my budget is stretched a little thin at the moment. I ordered an Ibanez Prestige RG 657, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and the entry level 13" MacBook Pro without Touch Bar (2.3GHz, 8GB RAM). Will this computer be able to handle Bias FX Pro? I won't be recording much. I was going to buy a new MacBook anyway, so this is my way of saving money without having to buy a physical amp. I bought some Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones to use until I get some monitors. I have the full Audioengine setup for my desktop (A5+, S8 sub, D! DAC) so I could possibly use that if I wasn't in the mood for headphones. Just wondering if it should all work. I haven't had a computer with less than 16GB RAM in over 10-15 years, much less a processor this puny. Just wondering if you think this setup should work for what I need it to do. I had ordered the MBP before deciding to get back into guitar.... was originally planning on using it strictly for basic everyday tasks, and I already own a 15" fully loaded MBP with Touch Bar ($4000). I guess I could use that one if it came down to a system resource issue but I wanted the 13" for the smaller form factor/lighter weight/portability, etc. Very excited to get back into playing and the tones I'm seeing people achieve with this software are incredible! Sorry for the tl;dr post, thanks for reading and any input is greatly appreciated :)
Side note - I do plan on recording after I get 4-6 months of practice under my belt. What software do you all prefer to use on Mac? Logic Pro X?

This is relevant
Your setup looks good though. I'll let the more experienced users chime in but I dont see why you wouldnt be able to use your setup as you plan to

Plug the outputs of the 2i2 into the 30,000 $ home entertainment system and you should be good to go :)
Honestly, bias doesnt take much total dsp, and on the 2i2, at 128 samples, it shouldnt be taking more realtime dsp than you'd worry about
