Does anybody gig with BIAS FX on iPad?

I tell you what the stone having an XLR is groundbreaking. We need to see more of that in the guitar market!

There is a very simple pedal called RockBug (by Carl Martin) it supposed to emulate
clean amp. It has XLR output. The sound is actually quite good - to my ears. Plug in
your pedal board and go to flat power amp or PA - no need to haul the amp. -
When I get one I m happy to report differences with the irig. I d probably need help though how to do any testing. As I said what intrigued me is the combination of much better encoding and stompbox utility as an iOS user only.

@alderre and @pipelineaudio , well, here's the latest on my Stomp I/O issue. The replacement power supply did not solve the problem, the Stomp I/O would still occasionally stop making sounds, with the "gain" and "volume" meters dropping to zero. So I've returned the whole unit for a replacement.
Ok, so, "this" time, I'm hoping they are right.

@alderre and @pipelineaudio , well, the experiment is over. The second Stomp I/O showed the same behavior in that it would occasionally stop making sounds. So, it was sent back. Disappointing, because I do think the combination of footswitches, expression pedal, audio interface and xlr out makes for a very strong product.

@redroc-k wow that’s sad to hear. Maybe third time is the charm...
Did IK multimedia suggest anything to solve the problem?

These are the kinds of serendipitous situations that tell Positive Grid, in no uncertain terms whatsoever that its time for the expanded line of Bias FX hardware. They market is SCREAMING for this solution

That are the right words for such a market-gap. Thumbs up!

@alderre , well, the IK support team were very responsive, and I imagine they would have continued to try to find a solution, but after the second one showed the same issue, I decided I didn't want to pursue it any further. So, I boxed it up and returned it.
Maybe I'll jump back in once I'm seeing lots of reports of people using the Stomp I/O with success (and using it for a long time). -
@pipelineaudio amen. Hey @Joe-Kuo, I know you know something related to this... care to tease us? Human kind needs it
-
The tricky part is, its gotta be done right, and that means a LOT of stuff that the end users feel, painfully, but the manufacturers often don't know or care about.
Its gotta have a sensible dual output path; one out with the cabinet emulation on for FRFR speakers, recording inputs and PA systems and another with the speaker emulation off, for guitar amps.
Tuner really needs to be good, visible, and switchable quickly
Auto engage for the wahs and such would be AWESOME! (Some nut user named pipelineaudio actually went out, spent a year or so in the books, and learned C++ to make one SPECIFICALLY for BIAS FX hint hint hint)
4 buttons aint enough, 8 plus bank up/down would be awesome
Instant, gapless, glitchless switching
Some facility to deal with low end buildup at shows (multiband compressor or dynamic eq)
Per preset volume!!! Seriously!
I could go on for days

I have been lately, for both rehearsing and performing. I play in an Alice in Chains tribute band right now. I’m quite happy with my setup and I keep it simple.
I use iRig HD into an iPad mini 4 using Bias FX PRO. I use the BlueBoard for channel switching. From the headphone out on the ipad, I use a cable to go to a DI box, which plugs into the PA.
The only things I don’t like about it are:
- I hate the wah effect in Bias FX and JamUp. Partly because you have to have two different patches set up - one with wah on and one with wah off to engage it. You could use PipelineAudio’s solution, and I’m sure it works. My solution was to just plug my guitar into an actual wah pedal with the auto engage feature (Mark Tremonti wah) and run that into the IRig HD.
- Channel switching is pretty fast. I’d like it to be faster, and have the effects “carry over” from one patch to the next, but it is entirely usable.
- I’d like a BlueBoard with an extra button or two so that I could program one to turn the tuner on and off, and another to engage/disengage the wah only kind of thing.
Not lugging an amp around is great, and going direct to PA means not having to worry about someone messing up the sound I have by means of poor mic placement, etc. It keeps the stage volume down and allows the sound tech to have full control over getting a good monitor mix and FOH mix without having to be in damage-control mode.

@mehegama ..hi.. how’s your experience with the xsonic? I’m thinking of purchasing one...have you used it live? Does it still rock til now? Does ios update affects the connection of the sonic i am concerned about it coz it will be horrible if these ios updates will kill the connection of the sonic on the ipad..thanks..

@zcxen16
Did you buy the Xtone? I'm thinking about getting the Xtone Pro and would love to hear some first hand opinions about it.
